Friday - Surgery (specialist appointment), Car Accident
Yesterday I was late for work to go to my appointment with the specialist about the cyst on my ovary. She told me right off the bat that I was definately gonna need surgery since we now do have confirmation that it is continuing to grow. Much like my appendix removal, this surgery has a chance of going one of two ways:
1) Microscopic Laser Surgery - This is how it will start, and if she's lucky she'll be able to finnish the surgery the same way. If able to be completed this way the surgery will be day surgery (I'll have the surgery in the morning and go home from the hospital in the evening of the same day). The healing time will be 3-7 days. There will be two small incisions to my abdoman.
2) Scapal Surgery - If the cyst is attached to any of the near by organs which it very well might be, or if it is too big, the surgery will have to be completed with several additional large knife incisions to my abdoman, as well as the cyst it's self will have to be removed with the scapal instead of the tiny laser. This is a more serious procedure which will land me in the hospital for 3-5 days and has a healing period of aprox 1 month.
When I had the appendectomy the same two options were given to me and it turned out that I had to have the second more serious one. We won't know which is needed until she goes in there to do the actual surgery. There is also a 1 in 100,000 chance/odd that I will have complications/damage to the neighboring organs as a result of this surgery. I know that may look like pretty good odds that I'll be ok, but also keep in mind that I was in the 4% of the population that had their appendix in the wrong spot and thus had to have extra surgery, so it would appear that with my body anything is possible.
Also, there is a half decent chance of me loosing the entire ovary. If the cyst has corrupted the entire ovary or if it can't be removed safely otherwise they will remove the entire ovary. If that were the case, if anything happened to my other one I would be unable to have children =_= I worry about the other one because, and this is something I haven't shared with a single person yet, the last little while I've been having the same pains on my right side that the cyst gives me on the left.
It's going to take them one month to get back to me with a date for my surgery, which means it's probably not gonna be removed until a few months from now =_=
While I was walking home from work I waited at the crosswalk outside my appartment for my turn to walk. Got my walking man and headed out into the street. It was now a large red van decided to hit me. Why do I always get hit when I'm the pedestrian even though I have the right of way? Nothing is too badly broken.
Saturday (today) - Comp Repair, Movie
For aprox the last week the battery for my laptop wouldn't charge. Consequently whenever I moved the comp ever so slightly the power cord would jar loose and the comp would shut it's self off cuz it had no battery power to run off of. So I took it to Staples today since it's still under warentee (glad I bought the extended; though unfortunately it's gonna expire this April) so they're gonna fix the battery and hopefully the loose AC as well. Will have it back sometime next week, so until then don't expect me around much. I'm on the desktop right now but it's in my sis' room and she needs it for homework so yah....
Went to see In Good Company today. It was a good movie, I really enjoyed it.
