CHARACTER WRITTEN PORTION
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PERSONALITY: Miyagi can be described in pieces the surface of what is seen, and then what really is centered underneath, facets most are usually denied access into seeing. For the most part he seems carefree, easy going, unconcerned in general. A bit messy with his paperwork, as such his office is usually a mess but Miyagi in fact is an intelligent man who takes his research and work very seriously. Perhaps too much so as he finds more importance in that then his own personal life. Or so it would seem, hence the surface of what Miyagi gives you, beneath it he is a very observant, compassionate man. Albeit he will at times over react or enjoy toying with someone a tad too much, but then who does not have a playful nature. He can at times appear childish as if he is not paying any attention to those around him, but in fact he is. More than most notice. Miyagi is a habitual smoker, often seen with one hanging from his lips as he is speaking. When brooding or seriously thinking over something Miyagi will rarely finish the cigarette he is smoking, instead smashing it into a zig zag pattern in the ashtray in frustration. He prefers to (due to his past experience) go through life without really opening to anything. Not able to completely step from the world, but also unable to actually live in it. Most of Miyagi is a facade leading to a deeper, intelligent , emotional man. But expect to see the cocky, loudmouth, playful Professor more than the deeper man. He doesn't cave in to "terrorist" too easy. Miyagi is also prone to outbursts when he is frustrated, even if he does not always make sense. In general the surface of Miyagi is a brash, confident man with a playful carefree attitude. Underneath there is also a caring nature, observant, intelligence. Miyagi also is very expressive in his responses as far as his facial reactions go. It is stated by some (Mainly his ex-wife) that he cares for nothing, people or things...all but the one picture of 'her'.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF APPEARANCE: Miyagi is a tall, lanky man. Short black hair and dark eyes with an olive complexion from his Japanese descent. Dressed typically in a creased pair of dress pants, tie and dress shirt or suit for work. In his off days he can be found in a sweater and the same creased dress pants. Not really broad shouldered he appears to be in good shape despite being an older man.
BRIEF IN-GAME HISTORY: Miyagi Yo was born and raised in Japan, as a teenager he fell in love with his homeroom teacher. Sadly for the pair the woman was terminally ill, yet such is young love. Or all love as Miyagi came to believe once the one who held is heart passed from the world. So strong were the young male's emotions that he could not move on, nor could he completely stop living. Instead Miyagi focused on his career, becoming a Literature Professor at Mitsuhashi University in Japan. He was content to focus his life on research and books rather than human interaction. As such his life was littered with failed relationship after failed relationship. Because to Miyagi to change, to love another meant betraying his passed love. Miyagi married the Dean of Mitsuhashi's daughter. After three years of living with his indifference, and focus on his research she finally divorced him for another man. Realizing that this was all due to his inability to let the past go, Miyagi knew it was time for a change. But how could he do that when he had moved only so far from his hometown, all to return to her grave site each year. Change was needed and a drastic one, with this in mind Miyagi spoke to the Dean who willingly gave him early leave from his teaching contract and a glowing recommendation for a position at Cross University. After all what could he do even if loathe to lose a good Professor, he owed the man one after his daughters infidelity and abandonment or at least that is how he felt and Miyagi wanted out. Once this was in place he packed up the apartment he and his wife had shared. He boarded a plane leaving Japan and his past behind to find a new life in Cross City, New York...picture in hand.
HOMELAND OF CHARACTER: Japan
BRIEF IN-CHARACTER JOURNAL POST: Eh, I guess as far as moves go this one wasn't too bad. In retrospect I should have given more time between my arrival and my first day at the University. But what can you do, what's done is done.
A good round at unpacking, shower and bed. It won't do good to have the Professor sound asleep on his first day now would it?
However I feel compelled to expand upon my opinion of this new city. It is bustling, I am not certain I should keep this apartment here, or perhaps try for one of the quieter suburbs. Practicality lends to staying put though, the University does remain with in walking distance. And I am hardly used to American driving customs yet, so this is for the best.
All of it is for the best. Fresh start here Miyagi, better to keep focused on that...rather than the things you miss about home.
This is home now, time to settle in and make some acquaintances, maybe a Teachers Assistance to take some of the monotony out of the office. Never hurt to have someone around for amusement.
BRIEF IN-CHARACTER RP SCENARIO:
A loud buzzing sound, rustle of sheets and an audible groan are the only sounds to litter the half unpacked apartment in Cross. He'd crashed after a few hours of unpacking, mostly books. Using the reasoning he needed them for his classes and not that he was loathe to rescind any piece of literature he came across. It had to have been half pass three by the time he'd finally gave in and rested. And here it was now just six in the morning.
Feet dropping over the edge of the bed to slip his feet into waiting slippers, Miyagi scrubs at his eyes. This was going to be a long day, jet lag from the trip and time change and now an inadequate nights sleep. Still half asleep his hand fumbles over to the bedside table, questing fingers take a few moments before finding the pack of Lucky Strikes. Tapping one free he rests it between his lips and sparks the cherry flame to life with a slow breath "Well, might as well get a move on. First day on the job, can't be late until at least week two" laughing a bit as the sheet that was bunched around his hips is pushed aside.
Rising from the bed Miyagi makes quick work of showering, a light breakfast, cup of coffee and another cigarette later he is dressed in creased black dress pants, a crisp white dress shirt and black tie "Ready as I'll ever be." The coffee cup is rinsed and placed in the sink. Retrieving his keys and briefcase he steps out the apartment door and locks it behind him. Turning as footfalls echo down the hall.
Once outside he tilts his head back, smiling he stretches a bit with a polite nod to the doorman "Ahhh! It's a beautiful day" he remarks looking up to the sky. Finally he turns, heading for Cross University and the beginning of his new life here in New York.
