I'm CAUGHT UP!!! YAY!!!!!!!!
December 21st
The children ran past and Anissina couldn’t help but watch them with a smile. She pushed back her long hair, pleased to see the castle so filled with life and happiness. She couldn't even remember the last time it had been like this.
Feeling giddy all of a sudden, she danced along the corridor, feeling happiness well up inside her. It wasn’t the happiness of a new invention, or of being in control. This was just of being alive and happy and surrounded by friends and family.
She hadn’t realized where she was going, however. There was a patch of ice at the end of walkway and she nearly tripped and fell. Instead, she slid, giving a loud cry. She passed startled servants as she zoomed past them, on a one way collision course with the railing at the other end of the hall.
A hand reached out and grabbed her by the waist, picking her up bodily and pulling her to safety. She gave a startled yelp, and then a sob, resting against the strong arm of the man that had rescued her. She would have fallen over the edge for sure, and it was a long way down to the courtyard below.
She sobbed in her saviors shoulder, and then after a moment realized that her rescuer only had one arm. She looked up only to see Konrad’s kind face gazing back at her. After a moment, she gave a tentative smile back, her hand touching his cheek. He then did what she never thought he’d ever do, at least not to her.
He kissed her.
She was so surprised that she knew it showed on her face. He smiled apologetically. “I’m sorry. It’s just tradition, in Yuuri’s world. Look up.”
She looked up to see they were standing under a sprig of mistletoe. “I thought it was dangerous.”
“Oh it is here. But on Yuuri’s world, if a sprig of mistletoe is over a doorway and a couple stand over it, they have to kiss,” Konrad said with a shrug. “If I offended I am sorry…”
“Oh you didn’t. Just surprised me. I like surprises,” Anissina smirked and then surprised him with a kiss of her own.
Around the corner a pair of black and blue eyes watched, identical smirks on their faces. “Mission Matchmaker a success!”
December 22nd
“SNOW!! It won’t be long now until we’re covered in SNOW!!”
“Oi! Wimp! It’s already snowing!”
“Oh yeah…”
Gwendal rolled his eyes at the antics of his king and brother. They had all gathered in the ballroom to view the lighting of the tree. Once the tree was lit, it wouldn’t go out until after the first of the New Year. Yuuri had been bouncy and excited, singing old songs from his world.
He’d started singing from some movie he called “White Christmas,” which had driven everyone to distraction. Their king didn’t have the best singing voice in the world, after all.
“Okay, everybody! Get ready!” Yuuri bounced over to the wall. He reached out and turned the lights off. With the room filled with darkness, he called out to his fiancé. “Okay Wolf, it’s time!”
A low growl sounded from nearby the tree, but a pair of fireballs appeared in Wolfram’s hands. He sent them at the tree and they turned into trails of fire, swirling around the fire and lighting the candles.
The lights on the tree twinkled like those of the electrical sort that Yuuri was used to, but these were natural and in colors he’d never seen before. Wolfram had been practicing that trick for weeks and he’d finally gotten it right the night before.
Greta gasped happily, clapping her hands at the beautiful colors. The others gave similar sounds of appreciation and Wolfram flushed. He couldn’t help but feel proud of his accomplishment. He smiled even more at the look of pride on Yuuri’s face. All the hard weeks of practice had been worth it just for that one look.
