KKM and Anime Conventions

Mar 16, 2009 21:21

I just had to share quick summary of the anime convention I just attended over the weekend.  The only anime I actively follow is KKM, so to me, it was an attempt to find other KKM fans... which started within ten minutes of arriving.  Apparently, being a Harry Potter fan and a KKM fan go hand-in-hand, and when I started chatting with a young woman dressed as Snape, I confided that I only follow one series, and that's it's not the most popular.  She asked which one, so I told her KKM, and she positively squealed.  (Seeing a Snape squealing is quite a sight.)  Apparently, she also cosplays as Murata.  We're hoping to do a proper KKM cosplay at another convention.  She apparently knows people who cosplay as Gwendal and Wolfram, too.  :D

I also got randomly tackle-glomped by some teenager who recognized the Yuri costume, but didn't bother to give me enough warning so I could turn my head, and she totally squished my nose, straight-on.  Rather unpleasant.

I spent the first half of the day on both Saturday and Sunday cosplaying as Yuri from the coronation scene in the 3rd episode of the 1st season.  Was recognized by only a few fellow die-hard KKM fans, which made it totally worth it.  I was a bit disappointed that I found almost no KKM merchandise, but at least I managed to pick up a copy of the 2nd season manga in English.  Very happy about that.  They screened the dubbed versions of the first four episodes on Sunday morning, and it was fun to watch it with other people for a change.

And it was only just now that I realized I don't have any photos of me in my costume.  Oops!

Anyway, just had to share.  :)
