Old fan of the show (Five years almost? It doesn't feel like it) and I finally caught up on third season episodes, for that matter getting around to watch the last few season two episodes subbed. While I still have yet to watch the OVA, the last episode has really had me thinking and I wanted to see if I could generate some discussion about it. Sorry if I ramble a bit, trying to get these thoughts out as best I can.
I'm loving the season so far, we've had so much back story while keeping up the humor and moving the overall plot along. We've learned a lot about everyone, Huber has stopped living in sin(I thought they were married before XD ) and we've had lots of cute times with Thimbelina!Shinou.
One of the things that I found the most interesting was Sararegi. From the moment he showed up on screen, I couldn't wait to find out more. He is such an interesting character, they made it clear from day one without beating us over the head with it! that he was up to something, was a few steps in front of everyone and could and would use just about anyone. But they also having me trust in Sara's total trust of Berias, they both deeply trust one another. It's really something to watch.
And then, we get to Sararegi and Yuuri.
Yes, we can see the fanservice of their interaction, but from the point of view of the story Sara was trying to seduce Yuuri. Once more, it looks like he was actually succeeding. He did what he could to win Yuuri's trust and concern, does his bit and acts every bit the smitten young lady around our young Maou, he even goes so far as to be shot in the name of his plan. He had total trust that Berias would not let him die, but to go that far for his plan just has to make you step back.
Sara thinks of Yuuri as his precious tool, a beautiful sword that has power he can use but also has beauty that he enjoys. Sara does like Yuuri, is charmed by him even if at the end of the day Yuuri is still a sword to him. He wants to use Yuuri but he also wants Yuuri close, as twisted as that is.
Yuuri on the other hand, is smitten with Sara. He was completely swept off his feat by the other, a moth to a flame. His trust in Sara was full. I was unsurprised they glossed over the deaths in 109, even if sad. They almost always gloss over the violence part. But that is struggle was about Sara is something I could understand. While I don't think he is in love with Sara, the other still had his heart. From so few meetings he cared so deeply about the other, perhaps even more then normal for Yuuri.
And when he decides to still trust Yuuri, this also made sense to me. His flower is Yuuri's Simplicity, his trust and pure heart are what make him who he is. I don't think Sara has his full trust again, I really can't put it better then
seamusog did on the summery post at
kkm3-chat-mods. Yuuri was able to move past the hurt, do the mature thing and forgive Sara. Yuuri has such a big heart, and because of that he is able to stick with his promise. He promised to be Sara's friend no matter what, this just now means despite how Sara has used him.
I can't forgive like that, but I don't think that means it's wrong Yuuri did. His world isn't black and white and he did what made sense for Yuuri.
Another note, I'm pondering what translation I like more for the flower name. Yuuri's Simplicity, or Filled with Yuuri's Naivete. Thoughts of others? I'm actually leaning a bit towards the second one
And as for my thoughts on yaoi- er, SaraYuu that is. I think Yuuri will be good for Sara, I think he will change him for the better. However I'm not really for them getting together XD Still the same old YuuWolf fan here~ <3
I have also been thinking about Janus lately
Seeing Janus and Shori interact had really been something, and I know find myself sympathizing and worried for Janus. I didn't dislike him before, but seeing his situation I really have grown to care for him. I know his actions have been wrong, even if he was just following orders. I also know he is a tool, and something that shouldn't have been made. Murata was right to destroy the memories, but I worry now about what that could mean for Janus. It might be a well used theme, but that doesn't change how like Shori I want to see Janus able to move beyond being nothing but a tool. I don't think that will happen, but I can hope.
What is everyone's thoughts on Janus? Before his interaction with Shori, and after? What kind of ending do you think he'll end up with?
.........So many versions of names floating around @_@ I look forward to official translations, even if I end up not agreeing with them. She's staying Fluurin in my head :|
