What are your musings on this lovely lady and her dear daddy?
It wasn't until season 2 that was actually got to see them interact as parent and child, and I'd say they're close and respect each other on a personal level, as opposed to purely emotional.
Whenever Gunter finds himself involved with one of Anissina's experiments, my thoughts turn to poor Giesela (as opposed to pity for poor Gunter). Who else is available (or even cares) to pick up his shattered remains? By now she must be awfully frustrated and blaming him entirely for not standing up for himself.
I can just see Gunter's aching head resting on her lap as she relieves him of any bruises and trauma, subjected to Giesela's scoldings and threats to let him suffer next time he decides to be a guinea pig for the good of Mazoku advancement.
As to the when and how they became family, I have no idea. Was it ever revealed in the novels? I was very curious by the relationship when this was first revealed and very delighted by it, as it added a dimension to Gunter you wouldn't have expected in the early days of the story. I hope to see more interaction between the pair - hugs would be nice, and especially flashbacks of her as a child.
