kkm_challenge.This is so subtle it’s almost nonexistent. My first attempt at yuri, and I’m sure it shows.
Cheri von Spitzberg sat across from her hostess, watching as the staff took away their finished supper plates. There was really no comparison between Blood Pledge castle and Caloria’s castle: Blood Pledge’s staff outnumbered theirs ten to one, and the size of the castle was not worth mentioning. Still, Fluurin Gilbit had done wonderful things with the smaller space, including a mirror motif that gave the rooms a more spacious look. She was once again impressed by the young female ruler.
The two women could not be more different in personality while being so similar in station. Both leaders (well, one a former leader) having to remain strong in the wake of a husband’s death. It was a kinship only truly shared with one another.
“You must be very lonely,” Cheri suggested, taking a sip from her wine glass. Fluurin had invited her to the Calorian castle for a stay as thanks for coming to her aid during the tournament at Dai Shimaron. She did not intend to be critical of the young ruler’s lifestyle, but the quiet halls of the castle reminded her of being away at her summer home and how loneliness had echoed within the walls. “You should really consider taking that tour with me. It will do you some good, and we can keep each other company.”
“My people keep me busy,” Fluurin responded, ignoring the difference in words like “busy” and “lonely.” Her movements and voice reflected grace, but her words were delivered with such warmth that openness resonated from her. Her manner somehow reminded Cheri of a mixture of Julia and the current Maou, and she stared at the beautiful woman for a moment before smiling to herself: Of course the Fluurin could be similar to both. In some ways they were one in the same.
Cheri allowed the thought to pass and hummed in understanding. Her free hand reached out across the space of the table and fell comfortably atop Fluurin’s resting hand. “The people are very lucky to have such a dedicated leader. But you must also make sure to make time for yourself!”
This time, it was Fluurin’s turn to smile. “I think entertaining you is a fine means of enjoying myself. Don’t you think so?”
Cheri cannot disagree with such open flattery, so she raised her glass once more and tipped it in the direction of her hostess. “Then may we ensure the opportunity is not wasted.”
The two glasses tinkled with promise as they met.
