I thought it was right to inform people also here, since Sakurai voices Yuuri.
Recently, he had some trouble regarding a play his theatrical group (Joy2006) played in September, the name of the play was "Eternity".
The play actually plagiarized, Mitani Kouki's "Tokyo Sunshine Boys no Wana".
Mitani has a really strict policy about his works and he doesn't give the permission to any company (it doesn't matter if it's for a school festival or for something more professional) to use his scripts.
Joy2006 company changed some scenes but it was not enough. They publically admitted on their website that their work "Eternity" was not an original one.
Mitani Kouki complained to Sakurai's company with the result of putting the company in a very problematic situation, that's because Mitani Kouki is really famous in japan.
Sakurai then apologized on a tv radio show he hosts and said he will refrain from attend to events from now on.
To know everything about the situation and the consequences, I'll point you to the 3 posts written on
seiyuu community that talk about it.
The first one reported what Kanemaru (a seiyuu who is working with Sakurai at the moment) wrote on his blog and you can find it
here then you can find a translation of Sakurai's apology
hereAnd then
nanya_hime wrote a complete background plus official info and rumors, on her entry
hereRumor is that Sakurai will stop any activity for a while and will remain only in the ones already started where he can't be replaced (and eventually he will be replaced in the future)
Now, Sakurai's name disappeared from the list of seiyuu that are going to attend to the KKM event that was going to be held in Tokyo this October.
I think that we will have a lack of Yuuri in all the drama cds and KKM events for a while (I sure do hope they won't replace him..because after 78 episodes of anime and all those drama I don't think the fans would accept it even if he did something inexcusable.)
That's all.
If the mod think this post doesn't belong here just tell me and I'll delete it. Got the ok, thank you
