Originally uploaded by kyoppolife. this photo was taken almost a year ago at my mother's house. of the three women in the photo, the only one remaining in new orleans is my mother, pictured left. the others are displaced having lost their homes and businesses. almost all of my friends are still displaced as well, scattered around the country, many unable to return.

it's going to be an odd holiday season. still, there is plenty to be grateful for. it's just harder this year.
