http://www.nytimes.com/2005/02/16/technology/16robots.html?ex=1109221200&en=5ea5877fdfe0c2f8&ei=5070 the future moral ramifications of this technology are pretty horrifying. robots that independently decide on their own who to kill? robot "swarms of smart dust" that kill people? killer robot hummingbirds? are you fucking kidding me? is this really the new york times reporting this and not edward furlong?
if there is one thing we can thank the governator for, it's arnold's message from the future against the seemingly wonderful idea of killer robots. arnold baby, where are you on this issue? autograph a copy of one of your terminator dvd's and please send it express delivery to the pentagon with a personal note attached "WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU THINKING GENERAL, HAVEN'T YOU SEEN ANY OF MY MOVIES" might be a good start. we may well need the governator 1000 to save us from the future again.
if we can fight wars without any military casualties on our side, then there will be a whole lot more war going on in the future. if we can use robots to do most of the security work of an occupation, how many foreign countries (with oil -- hello middle east, say hello to our little robot friends) might we occupy in the future?
