Been meaning to mention this for about a week, but I'm now the proud owner of the full Japanese soundtrack of Les Misérables. My only regret is that Kaga Takeshi isn't playing Valjean on it.
Yes, the guy from Iron Chef and the Death Note movies played Jean Valjean in Les Mis. No, that's not a joke. Here, I'll prove it. Kaga Takeshi is the fourth "international" Valjean to sing, fifth if you count Colm Wilkinson, which I don't, because he IS Valjean as far as I'm concerned. (Not to mention that it looks like he's TOTALLY butting in on the UK guy's time.)
Sadly, most of the English-speaking ones (hint, hint, US and Canada!) aren't that great, but the Irish guy is AWESOME. For some reason I get a kick out of the Polish guy, too. I highly recommend watching this entire thing- it's less than six minutes, don't be a baby.
Kaga-san gets this hilarious "Did that sound funny to you?" expression on his face when he's done with his line.
Note: The international Valjeans are being led in by their respective Gavroches, each carrying their country's flag. Too cute.
