Heredity -- the gift that keeps on giving....

... and giving!

As if I hadn't already received enough from my maternal grandfather's side of the family.... namely, big boobs and abundant curvage (seems the women on that side of the family are all big boned and have wide hips (or what I affectionately call the 'Hejl Hips'), it seems there's more to come.... or give!!

Yesterday I went to the Podiatrist about the pain and numbness on the underside of my left foot. The x-ray of the foot revealed that I have a bunion which is causing my big toe to be misaligned so that it leans toward the second toe. This misalignment has cause two smaller bones on that toe to be misaligned as well, which results in pressure being put on the underside of the foot, which results in the pain and the numbness that radiates up between the two toes. I've also got a bone spur developing on the top of the big toe (my Mom -- from whom I've inherited my newly developed foot problems -- has had numerous bunions and bone spurs removed from her feet over the years, as well as having her 'hammer' toes straightened) and arthritis beginning to develop in one of the joints of that toe as well (again, courtesy of Mom)!!

Anyway, for the nest ten days I'm not allowed to do any 'exercise' walking -- just my normal walking and I'm not supposed to overdo that either. As well, I've got to apply a heating pad to the underside of the foot for 10-15 minutes a night and then take some sort of cylindrically shaped object (we've got a wooden rolling pin that Bob used to 'roll' the tile he just replaced in both bathrooms) and roll my foot over it for another ten minutes, then 10 more minutes with the heating pad.

Not bad but the thing that's really bad is that I have to WEAR SHOES CONSTANTLY for the next ten days.... EVEN when I first get out of bed in the morning!!! Now, I'm one of those people whose greatest pleasure is taking my shoes off as soon as I get home from work and walking barefoot whenever I can!!

But I'll follow the rules and do as the doctor wants. After ten days of this, she told me that I could gradually ease back into my routine and if the pain and numbness return, to call her. The other options after this ten day treatment are a shot of cortizone in the foot and if that doesn't help, an arch support for my shoes. The doctor's office is actually looking into whether or not my health insurance will cover the arch support and will let me know what they find out.

In other news: Chapter 2 of my latest YYH H/K fic (What Price Love) is up on both ff.net and aff.net. Many, many thanks to those of you who've read and/or reviews.

Speaking of reviews, I received one this morning for Chapter 2 of this story that began 'this was okay, but....'. It then went on to question when Hiei and Kurama were going to meet; when Hiei was going to find out he had a son; and when Hiei and Kurama would be getting back together!

I thought the reviewer's impatience was funny, though it shook my confidence a bit to read 'this was okay..." because I'm not only having fun writing this story, but I think it's some of the best fic I've written... and ya'll know that I don't like MUCH of ANYthing I write, with the possible exception of my haiku!!

Not to worry, though, one review has not shaken my confidence enough to make me stop writing!! Oh and blueutopiah, I forgot to mention in my reviewer's reply to your wonderful review.... but, this inspiration for Ryuushin and the dragon was your oh-so-beautiful ending scene from Chapter 3 of Island, which gets me misty-eyed EVERY time I read it!!
