I always look forward to the new anime each season. Most of them are mediocre at best, but there are always one or two that I end up watching to the end.
C: The Money of Soul and Possibility Control: It's like the illegitimate child of Yugioh and Deadman Wonderland. I can't decide if I'm intrigued or just confused.
Deadman Wonderland: I followed the manga years ago. The first episode was a bit slow and didn't introduce as much of the story as I'd hoped, but I'm excited by where it's going. As a side note: I still cannot figure out if Shiro is wearing a skin colored body suit or nothing at all.
I guess it will forever remain a mystery...
Stein's Gate: after seeing some of my f-list ranted about this, I decided to give it a try. I came out of the first episode thinking "I have no idea what I just watched." It looks like something I might enjoy, if I can ever make sense of it.
Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi: My first thought was "I can't believe I watched this". My second thought was "I can't believe I liked it". (It's boy love, for those who don't know.) But this series sidestepped most of the reasons that I usually hate the genre. The only thing I'm not too crazy about are the character designs. Everyone has the same face. No, seriously, EVERYONE. Character designers. Please hire some.
I also watched a bit of Dog Days--I thought I heard good things about it--but I turned it off halfway through because I could not take the insanity any longer. It's about two warring countries (one is named Biscotti) that are inhabited by dog people and chocobos. No, I am not making this up. The main character sounded like Takuto. I kept expecting him to do something fabulous. He didn't. How disappointing.
And then there was Ao no Exorcist!
It wasn't 100% accurate to the manga, of course. But they left the important stuff in, and the added scenes with Rin's part time job were cute.
Part of me is sad that they didn't get through the entire first chapter's events in the first episode, since it ends on such a great scene. The rest of me is glad I didn't have to deal with it this week. I didn't cry while reading the manga (it was close), but I'm afraid that I might cry when the scene comes up in the anime. ;__;
They left the tie scene in. <3 That's one of my favorite scenes from the entire manga. The father/son relationship that Father Fujimoto and Rin have is adorable.
The ending song was, um... interesting. It's mostly just a first person view of driving down a highway, but they had some of the characters make a cameo appearance on billboards. Rin and friends were dancing to the music. I wish I could get a decent screenshot of it. Rin looked like such a dork. XD
Mephisto was dancing too, but considering how weird he is, that's not surprising. Speaking of Mephisto, he appeared in the episode preview, so that means we'll get to see him next week!
TL;DR: IT WAS AMAZING AND I'M EXCITED!
I'm also hoping that someone chooses to icon-ify the first few episodes. If not, I'll do it myself, but I'm horrible at making icons.
And in non-animated news, A Game of Thrones debuts tonight. (Yes, I do watch shows that aren't animated... sometimes.) But I'll have to wait a while to watch it unless the episodes appear on HBO's website.
So, has anyone found any exciting shows this season?
