Technology is so obnoxious. :( I've honestly never heard anything good about Dell from friends who have owned them. I hope you'll manage a solution soon.

I'd never heard anything bad about them until I started having issues with mine. (My father used Dell desktops at work and he never had a problem with them, so we assumed the laptops would be fine.) Oh, how wrong we were...

I guess it depends, huh? I have a friend whose Toshiba laptops have just exploded on her one after one, while mine is going on 3 years strong without any problems besides the DC jack dislodging.

You could have a frame store cut you a mat for a larger frame that would fit your settei perfectly. It would be pricier than just sticking them in the frame, but it would look really nice and wouldn't make you feel all OCD about it (which I totally understand).

Anyway, hugs :\

I'm actually trying to avoid mats, in case I ever have to resell the settei. Or in case I ever find an A4 frame that fits. The problem with mats is that you can't remove them.

PS - I don't think I've heard a yes or no from you on the Symphonia figures. I can wait 24 more hours, but that's it. After that they'll be going in my sales post since I could really use the money before I go back to school.

Entirely possible to remove mats! I've self-matted for local art shows... and then had to take them off for AP art... put them back on for frames, etc.

Just ask them to cut the mat. Then get a piece of cardboard or foamboard or something, make it a bit larger than the settei, and tape the mat to the backboard with painter's or masking tape. If push comes to shove, you can easily remove them without damaging the work. :3

Really? I just assumed, from past experience and from what I've read, that mats were permanent. All of your solutions are so great (and cost effective).

I'm actually really surprised! Dell computers are usually really good :( sorry you have to deal with that crap. I completely understand @___@

I've never had a problem with a Dell desktop, but I've heard too many complaints about their laptops.

D: Man that really sucks about your laptop. :\ I'm not too familiar with how laptops work so I can't really help you out on that one, but I hope you're able to get it fixed under warranty again. DX

I'm still trying to find the paperwork.

The problem with getting it fixed is that it could break again next semester. Every time I fix one problem, it seems like something else goes wrong in a month or two. I don't want my laptop dying on me in the middle of my capstone project. ;__;

I'm tempted to just buy a new laptop... preferably an HP or something. My mother said that she wouldn't mind taking my current Dell off my hands, since her laptop is even crappier than mine.

I'd just get a new computer if there's no specific computer requirement for your school. Amazon has nice discounts & free 2-day shipping for computers, and since PCs are relatively inexpensive compared to others, you could get a nice HP for under $700 easily.

HP is pretty much a great brand. I'm biased of course, but between the two my parents own and a third I've borrowed, I've not seen any problems.

(Suddenly I am commenting a million times to this entry despite not talking normally and not really knowing about computers?)

Yeah, I'm leaning towards buying a new laptop. There isn't a requirement for my school. The reason I got a Dell to begin with was because the school had a special offer on them for incoming freshmen.

That's good to hear. I'm going to start browsing Consumer Reports tomorrow. I only have one week before I go back to school, so I need to make a decision quickly.

AHHH I'm so sorry ;____; I padded them up as well as I could, but I guess that wasn't enough ;~; maybe I can at least refund you the cost of the frames?

I don't think it was your fault. I mean, a bit more bubble-padding probably wouldn't have hurt, but there's still a chance the frames would have shattered when they were unloaded from the plane. The way they throw luggage (and presumably international mail) always makes me cringe.

Thanks for the offer. I'm going to talk to my post office tomorrow or Friday and see if I can get a refund on the shipping. You sent it by Airmail, right? Any idea if that's insured or not? I never use Airmail.

I sent it by airmail and that isn't insured :( I could have gotten insurance for another $5, I should have done that ;~;

I should have asked for it, I guess. I just assumed that insurance would be another $20-$25. I can't insure any packages to Australia unless I send them by Express Mail (which starts at $20 for small items).
