"Oh no, another one of these memes!"
Yes, another one of these memes.
I'm sure you'll learn more than you ever wanted to know about me. Blame
antoj My name is Nicole but I prefer to go by one of my many online names since it kind of freaks me out when people call me by my real name. (Yes, even people I know irl. I know it makes no sense.) The username is pronounced kai + ogres, not Kyo + graze. This drives me crazy when people get it wrong. I'm a rising senior in college, majoring in art/computer engineering/communications and I'm starting to get worried about my post-graduation plans. I would love to find a job in the animation industry, but I'm not sure what my chances are with this economy and the fact that I've yet to intern at an animation company. Next year is sure to bring many nervous breakdowns.
My university and the people I've met there have given me somewhat of an inferiority complex. I apologize in advance for any emo posts you see within the next year, and particularly during September/October. My dorm is not air-conditioned and it hasn't been renovated since the 1970s and it has a bit of a roach problem, so I'm sure to complain a lot during the first few weeks of school.
I alternate between living with my parents in Oklahoma (summers) and living in Philadelphia, PA for college, and I must say that I like Oklahoma about 10,000 times better than Philly. Oklahoma City in particular has this cute notion that they are a thriving tourist attraction, between Bricktown's "canal" literally a 10 foot wide, manmade waterway that you can take "tours" down, the many non-natural lakes, and our "rich cultural heritage". With "cultural heritage" in quotation marks because, while the majority of the population has some Indian er, I mean Native American ancestors, you only hear about it in those corny tourist brochures. It's... quaint. XD It also, surprisingly, has more to do than Philly. And it has the best red dirt ever.
Since I was ten years old, my hobbies have been shaped by my friends. They introduced me to Pokemon, video games (via Super Smash Bros; good times), anime/manga, and this addicting site called Neopets that I can't seem to quit no matter how many times I get screwed over by the admins. Right now I'm being indoctrinated into World of Warcraft. As you can see, I'm a good little follower and could probably be brainwashed with relative ease.
I have a lot of hobbies and I'm mediocre at all of them. I've loved drawing since I was four years old. Back then I was considered good for my age, but my talent has stagnated as I got older. I improved after taking some figure drawing courses in college, but now I'm at an impasse with realistic coloring (both digitally and traditionally). I like to write but I don't do it enough to consider myself a writer. I like to play the flute but I was never good enough (or motivated enough) to pursue it past high school. I like to play video games competitively (specifically SSBB and Pokemon), but no matter how much I practice, I'm not quite hard-core enough to win tournaments. I played the Pokemon TCG for nearly ten years, but I recently quit because I could no longer stand the jerks who came to the tournaments and then invaded our local Pokemon league. I still miss it, minus said jerks. I love most types of music, my favorite genres being j-pop, pop, rock, and contemporary Christian. I tend to listen to contemporary Christian music when given the choice, not because I'm overly religious (though I do consider myself a Christian), but because I like the way it sounds and I like the variety of song themes and I like how many different ways you can interpret the lyrics. Not sure what that says about me, but somehow, I think I'm doing it wrong.
As far as fandoms go, I'm only involved in Pokemon. Specifically, I'm a member of this place called
pkmncollectors , where I'm often tempted to buy shiny items. I try not to think of how much money I've thrown into my Pokemon collection since I joined. There are a handful of other fandoms I would like to join, but they are all non-existant or filled with too much drama to make it worthwhile. I'm not too concerned about shipping, as I care about plot more than who the main characters end up with, but my two OTPs are
Florence/Kyogre and
Ike/Soren. I cannot decide which one I like more.
I have mild to severe obsessions with the following things and will defend them to the death: A Song of Ice and Fire, Ao no Exorcist, Avatar the Last Airbender, Fire Emblem, Fullmetal Alchemist, killer whales, One Piece, Realm of the Elderlings, and snakes. I also like Bulbasaur. A lot.
Do you think I have enough Bulbasaurs yet?
I'm a germaphobe and a perfectionist and a procrastinator. I also have a tendency to injure my neck and my chest wall and my carpal tunnel while doing mundane, every-day tasks. I'm clumsy, though I've become better at not running into walls as I got older. (Falling down stairs is another story. I do that quite often.) I'm one of the pickiest eaters I've ever met and the list of things I will not or cannot eat include: steak (and most other beef products, including hamburgers), pork, salmon, pizza, salad, nuts, mustard, tomatoes, lettuce, anything with mayonnaise, oranges, watermelons, and Chinese food. I will not drink anything besides water and the occasional milkshake.
My emotions are somewhat broken and I have a genuinely hard time feeling sympathetic towards others. I'm generally polite and friendly, but deep down I am a selfish, horrible person. All of my actions benefit myself in some way. Always. No exceptions. I also hold grudges for illogical amounts of time. I don't think any of my friends have realized this.
Before I die I want to:
-own my own house
-key someone's car
-learn Japanese and Hebrew. Let's throw in Spanish for good measure, since it could be useful. And German, because it sounds awesome. And Swedish, because my grandfather could speak it and I regret not learning it while I had the chance.
-get a dog
-buy a giant Pokemon Center Suicune plush
-visit Japan, Thailand, Canada, Hawaii, Europe (Great Britain, Germany, France, Spain... let's just tour the whole continent), and China.
PS - Until I was ten, I thought that babies grew in mothers' stomachs, like watermelon seeds. Every time I asked "where do babies come from?" my mother would explain that "babies grow in the mommy's tummy". And then I would ask "well how do they come out?" and she would say that when the baby was ready, the mother's body would open up, kind of like a door. All through elementary school I was confused because there was no doorknob on my stomach and I didn't think there was a doorknob on my mother's stomach either. It was baffling! After I got "the birds and the bees" talk, everything finally made sense.
