Did LJ delete the "view this page in your own style" option? I can't seem to find it anywhere when I'm looking at other people's journals. I guess it's not a huge deal for me, but there are a few journals/communities that I prefer to view in my own style because their default style gives me a headache and/or eye strain.

I was thinking about this today, and really a:tla is one of those shows where I don't hate most of the ships? I don't even hate zutara, I just don't... care for it... lol. Zuko/Aang makes me lol though. shipping aside, any aang/zuko interaction is my jam.

Have you read The Search comic?

I think the only AtLA ships I don't particularly like are the canon ones (Zuko/Mai and Aang/Katara)... maybe because of the way they were handled in the show? I mean, I love shipping in fic, but I don't feel like we needed so much time devoted to romance in canon. The show is about kids who can control the elements trying to save the world.

I really like Zuko/Aang (as a pairing or just as bros), but all the Zuko/Aang fanfics I've found have been really ooc for one or both of them. I used to crackship Zuko/Jet because I thought it was hilarious, but now I think I legitimately ship it. Oops.

I haven't read The Search yet. Is it any good? I'm planning to buy it when I have some spare spending money that isn't going towards Pokemon collecting.

I admit I like Aang/Katara, but I'm usually easily influenced by canon. I don't read much fic either, so I don't have much else to go on XD;

If you happen to have any Aang/Zuko fic recs I'd love to hear them! If you happen to know of any good ones, anyway. OOC fics would probably bother me...!

I love The Search so far!! It's only got one issue out right now and I love it more than I loved any of The Promise comics.

The main reason I disliked Aang/Katara in canon is because they devoted so much time to it. Aang's crush on her was cute, up until the point when entire episodes (the cave, for instance) revolved around it. At that point I was like "I get it, Aang's going through puberty and has a crush on a girl. Please focus on something else, show."

I think the only decent Aang/Zuko fics I've found were collections of drabbles, and right now I don't remember what they were called. One of my favorite AtLA authors has this fic on her rec list, though I haven't read it yet. It's an AU where Zuko and Azula travel with Aang. Not sure how you feel about AUs, but it would probably have quite a bit of Aang and Zuko interaction, at least. The author's note at the beginning says that it's been discontinued though. :/

I was surprised that The Promise comics got so much hate. I didn't love them, but I didn't really dislike them either. If nothing else, I think they were worth $6-$8 a piece for the art and The Dark One. The Dark One was hilarious.

Ahaha! Yeah, I kinda ate that stuff up. I really like the Fortune Teller episode just for that reason?? But the Cave of Two Lovers I like for the nomad band group hahah. I get what you mean though, there's a lot of blushyblushy implied stuff with Aang and Katara while nothing would really come of it, story-wise. It was over done for sure.

Thanks for the rec! I'll bookmark it now :) Never tried an AU but I don't mind that kinda stuff if it's still the same setting as canon? (unlike some modern high school type fics...)

I feel the same about The Promise. If anything the art was fantastic. Certainly worth the price!! I think you will really like The Search. I got majorly spoiled about the ending of issue 1 by tumblr though, so the *~*mystery*~* of the issue was ruined for me, ahhh. I was angry enough to go to the a:tla blog and tell them they should tag such a huge spoiler. It ... really is a gigantic plot twist. :| I was only 9 days after the comic had come out and I hadn't gotten mine in the mail yet, ggg. They at least apologized

I really love AUs, but only ones that are in canon-world with plot deviation (Fire Nation wins the war, Jet never sees Iroh firebend his tea, etc), or worlds that are incredibly similar to canon. High school AUs, for example, are an instant "x out of the window" situation for me.

I think I might have been spoiled on that plot twist because someone on my Tumblr dashboard kept posting semi-vague rants about it. If the plot twist is what I think it is (involving Zuko's parents?), I'm not particularly happy with it... but I also don't want to judge too harshly before reading the comic.

Yep, I feel the same way! I had an AU idea where Aang basically was never trapped in an ice berg, but lost for a while until he rallies Bumi, Kuzon and Gyatso to help him fight the upcoming attack against the air nomads. I didn't have much planned for it, though...
