Sorry for not keeping up with LJ lately. I've been kind of distracted by other things: my parents' birthdays, their anniversary, the Olympics, rediscovering Neoquest II and basking in the nostalgia, and (most importantly) becoming obsessed with the Codex Alera novels. At first I was pretty unimpressed with the series, but the main character grew on me after a while and the plot got much more interesting after the first book. It kind of reminds me of Avatar/Legend of Korra, in the sense that the people can bend furycraft the elements... except it's inspired by Roman culture and focuses more on politics and military operations than AtLA/LoK did. I'm on the final book in the series right now and it is giving me ALL OF THE FEELINGS. One of my favorite characters was sentenced to death. Please don't die. My heart cannot handle this! ;___;
A new line of pony merch came out last week, so of course I scoured the local stores for it. Look what I found!
The little plush are cute. Not as good as most of the custom plush I've seen, but then, they're also not $100+ like most of the custom plush I've seen. The only downside is that they don't stand up very well. Out of all the ponies, my Twilight is the only one that didn't instantly faceplant.
Does anyone want to split the Cloudsdale set with me? I just want the Wonderbolt. I was thinking $3 + shipping for Gilda and $2 + shipping for Dash. Let me know if you're interested.
Speaking of ponies, I want a Cadance. Does anyone know if the
Cadance in the castle set and the
Cadance in the princess set are the same? Or does anyone have closeups of them outside the package? I'm debating whether to buy one of those or the big fashion style or the mini blind bag sized one, but it's hard to make a decision when I haven't seen the unboxed versions of the mid-sized ones.
Oh, and I completed a goal... kind of.
16. Complete all support conversations for FE 7 and FE 8.
Okay, so this goal is only half-finished, but I'm going to post about it anyway because do you know how many hours it took me to get 100% completion on this?
The answer is TOO MANY HOURS. And FE7 is going to take even longer because they don't have a Tower of Valni equivalent where I can support the under-leveled characters without having to worry about them dying.
Realization #1: Apparently everyone in Magvel ships Eirika and Ephraim.
(I screen-capped some of the other subtext-filled supports too, but I can't seem to find them right now.) It's highly amusing. Their magnificent twincest falls a bit short of being canon, but the amount of subtext had to be intentional.
Realization #2: Eirika is my fandom bicycle in the sense that I now ship her with everyone... except L'Arachel, but give it time and I'll probably ship that too.
Favorite supports, in case anyone was curious: Natasha/Seth, Natasha/Cormag, Innes/Vanessa, Innes/Eirika, Forde/Eirika, Gerik/Joshua, Myrrh/Ephraim, Eirika/L'Arachel. And Eirika/Ephraim, of course.
Now I just need to find a place to read the end-game scenarios for those supports. Because I completed most of the supports mid-game in the Tower of Valni, I didn't get to see 90% of the end-game scenarios.
One final complaint, because it wouldn't be a journal entry from me without at least one complaint. We're breaking heat records. It has been consistently over 105 degrees here; yesterday it got up to 111. I had to walk from the car to the inside of a restaurant, and it was one of the most miserable walks of my life, despite only being about 50 feet. The heat itself was bearable, but then the wind picked up and I had that 110 degree heat blowing into my face and it felt like my eyeballs were about to burst into flames. I think I'm going to remain inside until this heat wave is over and hope the AC doesn't give out again.
