The hospital where my mom works could use French interpreters to better communicate with patients, particularly Francophonic Africans. Not only will this be a great volunteer experience, it's an amazing thing to have on my resume when I apply for Peace Corps (...and yet one more reason I'm gonna be sent to Africa, as opposed to China, Latin America, or eastern Europe. Um. Not that I'm opposed to Africa, but I'd have an easier time adapting culturally in Europe or China ). It's definitely relevant experience for my International Affairs major, and it could help me when I apply for an internship with the Dept. of State.
Not to mention it'll keep me busy while I LOOK FOR A JOB aclja;dja;df D:
Yeah. It's pretty much a sweet deal all around.
It's kind of surprising there are so many more Spanish speakers in this country... no love for French? Peace Corps needs French speakers pretty desperately since so many more applicants speak Spanish.
