On Monday, the builders decided to fiddle around with the electronics in the newly built extention. This would have been all fine and dandy if it weren't for the fact that some idiot cut the cable that connects the phone and internet etc etc. So as a result we have not had working internet or phones since then. It is fixed now but seriously, how stupid do you have to be to cut a cable and not even notice?! Grrrrr

On a happier note, Bath is NICE. The university campus is the prettiest thing I have ever seen. The textiles bit is actually a Georgian house! It's a shame because I doubt I will get in there, The interview went okay but the interviewer kept sort of hinting that my talent lies more in illustration than fashion. Also I was crap when it came to naming fashion designers Oh, I keep thinking of stupid things I did and cringing. Arrgg!

However, I'm not really sure it's the sort of course I'd want to do anyway. The interviewer kept stressing that they don't actually teach you much, they just leave you to get on with it. What use is that?! I'm going to university to learn new skills and improve on the techniques I know already I think I will be quite happy at Middlesex. I'm ridiculously exited about learning digital weaving and print!

However however, my trip to Bath was fun anyway As I said, my mum did her fine art degree there and wanted to explore the city. I wish I'd bought my camera because it was so so so so pretty! We ventured into a really cute vintage shop owned by a lovably mad woman (she reminded me of Alice from The Vicar of Dibley). It smelled of lavender soap and was full of pretty blouses and antique jewelery. My mum bought a lovely vest top with a peach silk ruffle on it under the guise of a 'well done for getting into uni' present which made me so happy!  Not just because it's a beautiful top but because I felt like she was really proud of me. I can't really explain it without sounding like an idiot, my mum hardly ever buys me clothes (she likes the way I dress but still thinks it's ridiculous) so the fact that she went to the trouble of picking out something she knew I'd like felt really meant something. It's not about the gift, it's the thought. I'll stop being sappy now.

Also today was EXCELLENT for a number of reasons. They go a bit like this-
  • I got the marks back for my last project and I got a Distinction! I am pleased as two pleased things. This was a project I found especially challenging as we were purposely given a colour to work with that we wouldn't usually choose. I got orange which I usually hate (I made a point of stating this in my evaluation) but this project actually taught me to like it a bit. I was even more pleased when I discovered that this project was marked at degree level. Mmm, smugness.
  • Obviously, I have the internet back It is a huge relief!
  • Carrot cake for breakfast. Oh yes!
  • Lessons today were fun and relaxing =) We ended up watching various shows on 4od (My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, Gok's Fahion Fix & Glee) on the projector while we got on with our work. Surprisingly, this was under the suggestion of our tutor! She is a huge Glee fan lol. Also I'm quite please with the drawings I did I drew a tonal pencil version of the jewelery box I bought on the Brighton trip as well as a cockle shell. I'm getting better at tonal drawings although I still prefer using fineliner and cross-hatching.
  • I gave Hannah the resin necklace I bought from Kyra as a birthday present. I originally bought it for myself but it suits her so much more and I don't think I'd wear it as much as I should. But anyway, she loved it! It makes me happy to see people genuinely happy with the gifts you get them. None of that nasty present face.
I'm sure there was more but I want to sleep now =)))

Edit- I just remembered a REALLY cringeworthy thing from the interview. Before the actual interview, I had to fill out a little questionnaire and one of the questions was 'How would you describe your personal style?' I answered 'Flower fairy meets 1920s flapper' which, while accurate, sounds STUPID. Seriously, how did I not realise how silly that sounds when I wrote it down?! Oh =(

Edit 2- The full stop on my keyboard is only working selectively. I've just realised how lacking in punctuation this entry is but I am not going to go back and fix it all because, as I've said, sleep is highly important!
