I'm getting about £850 towards a laptop and don't know what to pick. I'll have to put in some extra money for a better one I know. They are offering whatever I want. And my choices are between a new Mac Pro book or a sony vaio. I think I want a sony as the screens are so sexy, but there are so many too choose form. I think I'm going to put ( Read more... )

LOL. I have just bought a new VAIO and Garry has MacBook Pro... What do you want to know?

ha ha ha! EVERYTHING! Which is better I guess! I need to be able to store and manipulate MANY images and photographs. And possibly be able to edit video and music stuff as well.

You *cannot*, and I can't stress that enough, *cannot* get cheap software for MACs. That said, up until recently MACs were always used for image manips and music, so that would seem to be your best option. However, I did say, up until recently...

My new VAIO is really nice, looks fabulous, the screens amazing, performs well. It's a PC so you can get any software you want. Maybe you should pop round and you can see them both at the same time. Also, are you really going to travel with it? If not, it might be better to get even more for your money and buy a desktop, MAC or PC.

Without wanting to get into this too much...:P

You do get a lot of free Apps on the Mac...I think there called iLife or something

and when I looked the Apps I bought (Photoshop/Dreaweaver) were just as expensive on the PC as the Mac :)

That one of my major plus point for the vaio, the screen's are AMAZING! Black LCD yummy!
Got offered desktop but i really want a laptop. I imagine that once I finish uni that my commuting isn't going to be over. Lets face it there are not many artistic jobs in Hampshire.
It would be lovely if I could pop round, maybe we could start the night with intellectual computer buff talk and then get onto more serious matters like drinking, catching up and laughing!!!
