Dear Mommy,
So, this week is once again full of adventures of the greatest sort. Well, sort of. We had that lunch thing with Anz. R after he came back with his family. It was a good time. What else happened? Umm, we have a pretty good English course here, and the students are pretty good. There's one lady that's wayyyyyyy too serious about things. But, hey, what are ya gonna do?
Oh, so as for adventures, my companion lost his wallet. So, we had to go to the Government building so that he can get a new ID card. He being Italian, all he had to do was ask. But, this being Italy, they gave him some runaround.
He also had to get a temporary cash card from the post office (yeah, go figure) so that he could have money until his new card from the mission comes in. That was the biggest hassle ever. So, after three consecutive days of waiting in the post office, he finally got everything taken care of. Yay. It was quite a hassle.
As far as missionary work goes, there are a lot of less active members to visit. They love having missionaries over, and are quite spiritual people with strong testimonies, they just don't go to church. go figure. We've done a bunch of family home evenings lately, too. And, true to form, there was a funeral. I don't think I bring good fortune to old people. Wherever I go, they seem to die, and then I have to sit through the catholic mass that is their funeral. It's awkward enough being at a funeral of someone you've never met before. But it's worse when you've only known the person who you're there to support for 24 hours. It may have been better if I had been here for longer, but I haven't been. Oh well. And then, there were no seats, so we were just standing in the back of this tiny catholic chapel, and it was burning hot, and people were looking at us like we were the biggest fraud/imposters ever. Such fun.
In good news, on my first day doing house we were let in. Wow! It was a college student. How perfect. It's finals time, though, so he hasn't been able to see us since then. meh. Oh, and we have this old eccentric evangelist of an investigator who despises the fact that we use water instead of wine for the sacrament. It's kind of funny really. So, life goes on, much like it usually does. One of the members here is getting married to a missionary from Utah, and moving there, and so there's another member lady that's going to to there with her. So, we had this last FHE with the family, and it went over really well. I taught a lesson on the Book of Mormon, and it apparently really helped the member lady out with her worries about going, and her situation lately. So, go me. Well, go God, since he's the one that did it, but I got to be an instrument. Good stuff.
As for mattresses, they're not so comfy as the last ones, and there's no natural light in the room where we sleep, so it's an epic battle to get up in the morning. But that's life. Well, I hope all is well with everyone. Keep going with good things, and stop the bad ones. Remember that God loves you.
Jason.
