Peebles, I need your help!
I would like to carry out some market research on you guys, so here's a few scenarios I'd like you to read, and at the end, I'll tell you what I need from you.
It's really easy, completely painless (apart from having to read my writing) and won't take too long - promise :D
So first scenario:
You're a young, single mother, brought up on a council run estate. You have had small dead-end jobs in the past but are now living on state benefits. You've never owned your own computer before, but you got a laptop free with your new mobile phone that you somehow managed to scrimp and save up for.
Your child is now old enough to go to nursery, so you decide now is the time to start getting a CV (resumé) together and writing to employers looking for work. After all, the little one is gonna need school clothes before you know it!
Scenario two:
You're in your early 30's and you've just finished arguing with the boss of the packing plant you've worked for since you left high school.
You've finally had enough and decide that you need a new scene. You've had a computer for years, but all you ever used it for was 'surfing the net' and playing games.
You decide to set up your own business, but you can't afford to pay the fee's for advertisments. You'd rather produce your own business cards, flyers and posters.
Scenario three:
You've just come home from your retirement party and you're exhausted. As you sit down with your cuppa you start remembering 'the good ol' days'. You get out your notebook and a pen, as you've decided resolutely that some of this stuff is too good not to get written down but, after a page or two, your wrist starts to ache, and holding a pen for hours on end doesn't seem quite so appealing and perhaps your grandson would let you borrow his 'typewriter' for a little while!
Now, bear in mind that none of these people are stupid, but nor are they computer whizzkids. They need someone to help them.
A college course is not an option - either they don't want a massive course just to teach them how to start up Word, or they can't afford it if they did.
They also don't need the qualifications to do what they want to do.
All they need is someone to pop round for an hour, just to show them how to do exactly what they want, and then leave again.
Here's where you come in!
All I'd like from you guys, is to let me know roughly how much you would expect someone to carry out this service for you.
You'd see an advert in the local paper, or have a flyer through the door - "Ahah! Just what I need!", you call for an appointment, the person comes to your house, teaches you what you need to know, then leaves again.
What would you pay, for say, an hours worth of tutoring?
I'll screen the comments, so you don't 'follow the herd'! And I'll let you know afterwards what the results are if you are wanting to know lol
And yes, this is what I'm wanting to do in life, so any and all comments would be greatly appreciated, even if we don't speak very often, I would be glad of your input!
Much love to you all, and many thanks! :D
