I resurrected my 3x dead laptop once again because I had a need for internets and a back that couldn't stand sitting in the computer chair (translation: my back hurts again and sitting in the computer chair will fuck with it healing).
I started watching this retarted (in a good way) anime recently called
Welcome to the NHK. It's very good and humouring; essentially it's about a guy who just about refuses to leave his apartment and he kinda goes crazy or something. Either way, I like it a lot and recommend it.
Recently, there has been an uproar over the Rx drugs being found in the water supply. I find it ironic how people are now in an uproar when our water hasn't been healthy in decades. Can anyone guess how many chemicals are in our water? Anyone? I'll give you a hint, it's more than 100. Yep, it's actually more than 200. As I laid out in my article
What's In Your Water?, the Environmental Working Group has found 240 different chemicals in our water; 40 of these are unregulated (ie, they're not even supposed to be there). These include a number of wonderfully healthy things like chlorine, chloramine, bacteria, lead, bacteria, chemical pollution (like Volatile Organic Compounds), herbicides, pesticides, and chlorine-resistant cysts & parasites. Of course, let's not forget the industrial waste product known as
sodium fluoride that's shown to cause thyroid problems and IQ reduction! I encourage everyone to start filtering their water (I list some options in both of my articles) if they care about their health! Yes, I know "it's expensive" or "it's not convenient", but opinions quickly change when we see the connection between disease and our environment (we'll leave diet out of this rant, even though
The China Study showed a clear and distinct link between diet and disease).
This weekend looks like it will be interesting. On Friday, Rafael is driving over here, and then we are heading off to Manhattan to pick up Rose from work, and then from there we will be going straight to Long Island for Grey's wedding. Saturday will be alone time for Rose and I and we will certainly cause plenty of mischief by ourselves. Then on Sunday, we will be going over to Sean's place where I'll be teaching a small
Kali seminar until the evening. Come evening, it will be the usual routine of driving Rose home to Staten Island, hanging out for an hour or two, and then driving back home. Last week my GPS decided to take me a slightly different way (randomly. Which is not exactly supposed to happen) which was actually 15 to 20 minutes quicker (and only maybe a dollar more in toll fares), thus cutting my time down to about 1hr (give or take 5 mins).
In just a few months - it seems - I'll be shipping off to
Heartwood to
learn even more nutrition stuff and take the first steps towards being a doctor. But see, I got a teeny problem: no monies, because I've got no paying clients... I thought that all the businesses my mom found for me to send my resume to were holistic centers, but really all but 3 are chiropractors. This started a dilemma, and I'll spare all the unnecessary details. So, it's like this, I may have to start working as a massage therapist (which I really don't want to do) so I can get money to afford a new laptop (for school) and air-fare to take me to home and back during breaks (which seem to be fairly often). Also, if the rooms don't have internet access, then that means that I'll need a new cellphone + an EVDO card (mobile broadband). After talking to Jenna some, it seems that there may still be a good chance that a chiropractic office would still be interested in hiring a Health Counselor (I figured they would only be interested in the massage stuff and poo-poo the health counseling, which is my primary focus), so perhaps there is still the possibility of sunshine after all.
That's about it, stay tuned for next time, kids!
