Yesterday was Jen-Jen's surprise party. It all started somewhat humorously, really. I was supposed to meet with Jen's b/f Jim at their place, but first I had to get stuff from Jenna. I stop over at Jenna's, open the door, and see that Jenna's in the kitchen in just a towel talking on the phone.. Now, this is no new experience for me since Jenna doesn't like clothes too much, but it was still humorous none-the-less. Jenna told me that if it weren't for the fact that she thought Scott's cousin was home, she would of been standing there naked and I "would of had a surprise". Indeed, that would have been interesting. Jenna had to give me a few things and then hurry me out the door incase Scott came downstairs because he would of gotten mad about her running around in a bath towel in front of me (I've known the girl for 11 years; it's really not that big of a deal). So, I hurried out and get to Jen's place but Jim wasn't home...... The heck am I supposed to do now? I called Jim and he said he'd be there in about 15 minutes..... so I called Lindsey and asked to borrow 10 minutes of her time. We talked for 10 minutes and some-odd seconds and then Lindsey had to go, so then I waited just a few minutes for Jim to arrive.
After Jim arrived with his father, we went inside, prepared some, and I did what I always do at parties: sit and read.
I'm desperate to start finishing the 20+ books that IIN gave me, but see, that's complicated. Alright, 99% of them are on health and nutrition, so I am interested in reading them and also they will help with my health counseling (and future medical) practice, but I just get too distracted to read more than a few pages when I am at home and my reading gets nowhere. I want to finish all these damned books so I can buy other ones I'm interested in reading..... ugh! So, I find that I read the most when I have nothing better to do (like social situations! Because I am not all that social.... yet somehow I find so much to say when I blog or write e-mails... strange.). But yeah, getting back to what I was saying previously.. Jen got home at around 5:00 and then Jenna showed up an hour later. We ate dinner, then we ate cake and ice cream, and then it was time to play Risk. Jenna got hooked on this while she was in Florida this past week; previously she thought it was just a silly game for dorks, but now she sees why it is so popular. What a brat (I hope you see this Jenna :P). It's been over a decade since I've played Risk, so Jenna briefed me and I slowly got it. I lucked out (sorta) in that I started out with a country in Asia (Kamatcha?) either way, that ended up being called Caca between me and Jenna the entire night)) and so I slowly made my way down to China because I was determined to take China and keep it (I'm a stubborn dork, okay?). I tried slowly to get the rest of Asia, but it proved difficult because Troy had a massive army below me and then eventually someone else gathered a giant army and wiped me (and everyone else) out. It was a lot of fun though, and being able to sit next to Jenna and have her help me along made it all the more entertaining.
When the game was done, I had to get Jenna's opinion on this new girl that found me on a personals site whom is interested in me ( :) ). Jenna is to me as the Oracle is to Neo when it comes to my love life and other very important decisions (though the day to day stuff, Sean takes care of; he nominated himself as my "personal adviser"). Jenna gave me the thumbs up, and I gave it some thought as well and I decided to respond to her message and see where this will go. After all this was done, Jenna headed out and I was quick to follow. I said goodbye to everyone and then headed home.
Today I believe I found the mod chip that I want to get for my PS2 because I really don't want to shell out a ton of money for some game just because it's rare or no longer sold in stores. Also, I'd like to play those PSX games I downloaded on my regular playstation as well, so to me it seems like a wise $50 investment (and I'm glad that I looked at another store because the original one I was looking at would of cost me maybe $100 for what I am purchasing). Now, one other thing that I think I really want is a
Shaolin Temple USA hoodie. I mentioned before that my northern (long-sleeve) uniform is starting to rip and wear, so I'd like to have something warm and comfortable to train in outside. It's important that I keep exercising; both in general and due to the pain issues I've been having. This is a tough decision though because together these two items will cost me a little more than $100 when we include shipping and I have about $300 to my name right now from saving almost all of my money that I randomly got last year (birthday, x-mas, and donations from the ladies of Bryn Mawr for massages) and I want to be careful with my decision. I will think it over for the rest of the week and see if I still feel strongly about it.
Tomorrow we are getting our electric upgraded since this house was built in the 1950's and people didn't have PC's, 21" monitors, 32" TV's, and PS2's (jeez!) so here and there we will have a fuse blow and everything has got to get in the modern era. To do this, the power will be out..... probably all day............................ Honestly, if my hand wasn't fucked up, I may have planed on using this time to read, but (seriously) bending the book's binding or just holding it open could make my thumb joint really hurt by the end of the day and let me tell you...... that will suck horribly. We bought a backup generator last year and will now put it to the test; though I am unsure as to how much the thing will be able to handle. I plan on cleaning my room tomorrow so I can find the application for the Heartwood Institute and I also plan on buying
The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass since I've had $5 on that thing since before it was released. I can trade in a number of DVD's and probably a DS game as well to account for the rest of the cost of the game. Now whether or not my thumbs will stage a rebellion over playing my DS is another story entirely of course (we'll see). Lindsey came to my rescue and agreed to make plans with me when she gets home in the afternoon and that will keep me occupied for the rest of the day.
