This past weekend was Weekend #9 of 10 at IIN. Friday me and Jon headed up earlier than usual so we could make it to the
2600 meeting. The 2600 meeting is the first friday of every month and it just so happened that our class fell on the following Saturday, so it was a wonderful coincidence - and opportunity - to be there. After dropping our stuff off at the hotel, we headed over to our destined location, but going through the subway we bumped into Luna, who was on her way to work. We talked with her for just a few moments and then had to let her go; it was nice seeing her randomly. After entering the Citigroup building (you know, the one with
the fake terrorist scare), I saw Grey (who I was not expecting to be there) so I told Jon to go distract her so I could sneak up on her all ninja like.... but it didn't work (I'll get you next time!). It was very nice to see Grey, since she's been scarce
since I last saw her. We all poked around some, and then I read more of
my new book (which is still awesome), and then it was time to head over to Around The Clock - the diner we always end up at. When you take 15 hackers and try to fit them in a diner, it can get a little hectic; as such, it can be hard to find a seat near someone you know. I tried throwing my bag over to one spot so I could be closer to Grey and Rob, but Miss Frequency *cough* decided that she wanted to play musical chairs *cough* and made the decission to move to the exact seat that I was trying to claim *glare*... So, I sat in the corner where all I could do was make faces at her. Note to self: next time, use the buddy system with Grey so we definitely end up near eachother.
I decided to order a very yummy dish of Spinach and Cheese Ravioli in a creamy Petso sauce and mozarella sticks to boot. It's a good thing I come from a long line of dairy farmers, or I think I would of ended up with some serious dairy-related problems. Well, that dish, was very good, and afterwards I had to get a slice of (mine and Grey's fav) Green Tea Cake ^____^. I am still trying to figure out exactly how they make it... I know for the most part, but there's just a little bit that's throwing me off. You find that the more you cook and bake, the better you can tell the ingredients in something. Since I started cooking all my meals every day and baking every week last year, it's been interesting being able to dissect some of my favorite dishes by taste (like Fu Wah Inn's chicken with broccolli... omg..). After the Diner, we always go next door to the little Asia mart and I always use that as an opportunity to buy Lindsey presents (this is where Jenna chimes in with "what about meeeeee" and Luna too, if she didn't already know I got her something). I bought Luna and Lindsey something cute and small, and then we all left and it was time to go home. It was very nice getting to see Grey, since I've been missing her presence lately. I plan on returning next month because I told Mouse that I'd giver her an electronics book that I don't need. Incase you haven't already noticed, most folks go by their handles :P.
On the way back to the hotel, a very strange coincidence happened. Me and Jon were walking along and I hear "Josh", and so I turn. There stands some dude that apparently knows me. I couldn't figure out who it was, but, it's not uncommon for me to bump into people that know me or that think they know me. Well, it turns out it was Lindsey's friend Danyo; he had recognised me solely by my pictures on myspace. Weeeeeeeeeiiiiiird! So, we called Lindsey to inform her of this coincidence. I couldn't stop laughing when I spoke to her on the phone :P. After a bit, we parted ways and then we finally got back to the hotel and went to bed.
Saturday was day 1 of class. In the Morning,
Joshua spoke some about different things, and then later on the infamous Dr. Mercola spoke to us. Since I joined, there were two people whom I really looked forward to learning from:
Paul Pitchford, and
Dr. Mercola. Dr. Mercola talked some about his reformed Metabolic Typing system, as well as improving your eyesight without surgery, and the importance of sunlight. For lunch, me and Jon went to East Japanese like we always do and this time our friend Norma-Jean joined us. We ended up getting on the subject of 9/11 and I got into a pseudo-debate/discussion with Jon about it. I informed Jon how Firefighters and first responders are on audio and video saying "there's a bomb in the building" and "I heard bombs going off", and also the fact that the fires were burning way too cool to reach the temperature needed to make the steel "buckle" (based on firefighter testimony and also the forensics of the fire).... The discussion was friendly, but, everyone knows that I am adamant about this issue and that I've spent going on 4 years now researching this subject so I'm gonna throw a lot out there. Sadly, some of my food got cold due to this.. like my miso soup >_< (miso soup tastes bad when cold). We paid and left and after class I tried looking for Richard - one of the guys I met at Union Square last time - but he was nowhere to be found.
Jon and I headed back to the hotel, I changed into my "
Fuck the Federal Reserve" shirt, and I headed down to Union Square Park to meet up with the guys I met last time; Jon stayed at the hotel because he needed to work on a number of things, he said. When I got down to Union Square Park, I was disappointed to see that Dennis wasn't speaking (I learned later that the Cops unlawfully took his megaphone) because I had prepared notes ahead of time to talk about the Federal Reserve and Patriot Act. Dennis packed up his stuff shortly after I got there and we headed over to the diner we went to last time. We talked some about differnt things, and Dennis told me about this legal group he's trying to organize for activists and teach them common law and basically
how to fight the court in ways that they can't touch you. I think I will join this group, although I am a little weirded out by his daughter.... she reminds me of my crazy obsessed ex-girl friend only, I think she's mildly retarted or something.. She talks funny and just doesn't seem right in general. I mention this because she's always with him.. and it does trouble me some. Either way, I think that understanding the real way that the law works and basically have imunity against the bullshit tactics that are often used.
It got late, and I left for the hotel. The next day in class was, well, mostly boring. In the morning some lady did some dancing... like.. I think it was called 5-phases dance? I dunno, either way I didn't care for it; it screams "new age" and I'm just not into that. I'm all for holistic kind of things; healthy, locally grown, pro farmers, and all about going green, but to do something that I don't understand the meaning behind that has some sort of meaning or purpose, to me that makes it have no meaning and thus pointless. Then after that we did more dancing with some other lady; given, hers was definitely more culturally based and that made it much less pointless, but I still found it pointless in the end. This lady then talked about self worth and how our thoughts create our environment... Snoozer for me. I grew up being taught this by my parrents. I understand why the school invites people like this (has to do with primary food), but, the whole dancing part is very pointless to me. For lunch, I got together with the men's group and we got our food downstairs from Whole Foods. Jon still gets tweeked out by the huge lines even though he's seen a few times that it goes incredibly fast (and I even timed it once and it took 11mins to get from halfway across the store to finish paying)... which is odd, to me. Afterwards we went to Central Park and joined some other students and all ate lunch together. It was fun.
After lunch, we were lectured by Deepak Chopra, which was cool. I was falling asleep because I always get sleepy after lunch time :P. After all that, it was time to go home. Jon and I got to Penn Station, got on the train, and went home. My last class is the 16th and 17th and after that, I'll be all done at IIN. :D
