You know, I've been listening to this song for nearly 2 days... I'm hooked. I've found that I really like bands whose vocals sort of... stretch? Hold! I think that's the word. Vocals that hold certain notes for a while. I think this can explain a lot... Iron Maiden (my absolute fav in HS), The Crüxshadows, No Use For A Name and Iced Earth (more HS faves), Inkubus Sukkubus, The Misfits and some of Glenn Danzig's solo stuff.. Well, yesterday Aldric came over at around 10:30am so that we could start our matrial arts extravaganza which he named (and then I picked up and continued with) Clash of the Titans. What we did, was similar to - and what I think I will turn into - what i used to call my seminars.
Back in the day when I was training 4 or 5 people at once, I stuck to the general curriculum at the time (before I taught Chang Bian Quan, I was only teaching Muay Thai and Kali, and then Jeet Kune Do and Long Fist/Northern Shaolin/Chang Quan to my most advanced guys) and because of that, I never really got into the other stuff that I knew that didn't quite fit into everything else. So what I did was I would have what I called a seminar and I would get everyone together and would go over weapons, ground work, and other things. It was usually once a year and it was always a great big martial arts extravaganza. The past 2 years or so I haven't been able to do this because of there being almost no turnout (and my student body dropping down to just Dan), but I think with Aldric around and him being just as comitted to the arts as me, as well as renewed interest from folks, I think I will be able to start doing this things again under this new tittle and perhaps rework the format some. I look forward to the things that are to come.
After Aldric got here, we chatted for a bit about Martial Arts and Computers and we had about 2 hours to kill until I was expecting to hear from Dan; or atleast until I figured he would be getting out of work. Aldric helped be a bit with some Go stuff, and then from there he poked at my computer trying to see if it would install Linux like I've been wanting it to do for a long time now. Of course, it didn't. My computer has decided to boycott Linux and stick it's tongue out at anyone who tries to install Linux on this box (system), and so it kept locking up on Aldric. Aldric said that if he had a day or so to devote to beating this thing into submission, he could probably get Linux on here (thank god!).
Time then came to load up the gear. Aldric brought a lot of gear, and of course I have a lot of gear, so we piled it all into my car and then headed off to see Rafael and Adriana. Once we arrived, we unloaded everything in Rafael's backyard and then we got ready to get it on! The first thing I figured we could do was go over some basic Jujutsu and ground fighting stuff. After we were done with that, I think we messed around some with the weapons. Free sparring with the staffs is something new for Aldric, but I'm glad that he was warm to give it a shot.
Rafael made us some lunch, so around 4 (I think) we all ate lunch together. It was good; Raf used that stuff that I used last year at my party - Bone Sucking Sauce - which is as good as the name implies. We talked a lot about RoA, since me and the others have yet to experience it, and Aldric filled us in on the info that he knew. After the food settled, we dorked around some more with weapons, and then Rafael and his friend Roy kept chasing eachother around with the weapons..
It started to get late, so we began to pack up all the equipment back into my car and then we went out for ice cream. I haven't spent a dime all month, but I decided to spend some money on ice cream since I know that I'll be getting more money in the comming months. After ice cream, we went back to Rafael's place and lounged around finishing the ice cream that we bought and talked a lot. Eventually it got time for me to get Aldric back to my place so he could get in his car and head home. It was a fun day, and I think all of us really look forward to doing something like it again soon.
Today I did basically nothing. I brought a bundle of stuff over to GameStop to trade in so that I could get more store credit and pick up Pokemon Diamond. I wanted Pearl since most people seem to be getting Diamond, but they were all out. The guy that was there told me that if I reserved a game that he could sell me Diamond, so I did that. I haven't played Pokemon in yeaaarrs, and it's been even longer since I've watched the show, but the premise is still fun and so is the game. I have been in a desperate need for a new game since I beat Advance Wars, and this is what has ended up replacing it.
Tomorrow I have business coaching at 12, and then at 4 I have a health counseling session with Keith at 4. At some point this week I'd like to talk to my old boss at shoprite and convince him to schedule a consultation with me (he requested my help a long time ago for the sake of the health of his then unborn child). I am looking forward to my package comming in weds, that being my new suit :D.
