Man, I haven't been here for awhile, ain't? They changed the whole look of livejournal!
artistatlarge mentioned that she's been updating, and I was like, hoo doggies, I never go there no more, not even to read other people's entries, then I thought that I might want to fix that. Also, Sage has been whining. So I'm here!
Also, I am here in Canadia (which will never stop being funny, sorry Canadians) to see Sage's one person show, Boxes Buried Deep, so I win the prize of bestus friend evar. My flight was on Wednesday night, after a day of mild panic and constant fear that I wouldn't get Everything Done, which included practice driving with Mom in her new (used) Honda Civic, when she hasn't driven anything but the Saturn and the Bug for the past twenty years, arrange to have the Saturn picked up by the donation company (donating it to East Valley ASPCA), try to remember to call the hotel in Wisconsin before the person I am supposed to talk to leaves for the day because I can never remember when she is leaving in Wisconsin Time (didn't manage that one), write out reams of info to Other Sage and Trish, who are covering my dog walks, get my keys to Other Sage and Trish, actually do the dog walks that I have to do, finish packing, return a library book, plus about a millyun other things that somehow were being done at the last minute. But they got done, and Melanie picked me up, and we went to LAX for my 11.30p flight!
Was mildly horrified to see that my Air Canada flight that I so confidently booked was actually a United flight, but I ended up having no giant disasters like only United can do. Watched Guardians of the Galaxy for the third time and snoozed on flight #1, flight #2 was just a crash down sleep so hard that only when I was getting off the plane did I notice that they had given me a card to fill out for Customs. Both flights I had a whole row to myself, flying right before Thanksgiving is the bomb diggety, everyone is saving up for then and there is much room to stretch out.
Officially arrived in Toronto, meaning past Customs, and there was Sage to drag my sleepy self back to her house so I could nap. Which I did most happily! Then we got dinner and went to the post office so that I could buy Stamps for my Stamp Collection, and obviously, because she had her opening night the next day, what else did she do but perform in a different show, and then see a different different show! Final dress techs are for the weak!
The show she performed in was a show where a bunch of people got up and did five minutes of their choosing, so people did improve or standup or storytelling, one guy did a bit of comedy followed by a puppet show. It was pretty great, but I was so sleepy that at one point I was nodding off even though I really liked what the performer was doing! Then I remembered I had half a Dairy Milk in my bag and scarfed that sucker down and was able to be alert for the rest of the show, which included Sage doing five minutes from her show, which both made me howl with laughter and sob my head off, so that means that I would have to stay the hell out of Sage's eye line during the show so as not to make her cry, too!
I wasn't sure if I wanted to go to the other show too, which was a one man storytelling show, but thought I was about awake enough, and was very glad I had decided to go, because the show was tee-riffic. I had heard part of it on the Risk podcast, and really had loved it at the time, and the rest of the show was great, too.
Then we went back to Sage's house where, instead of going to sleep, I got texts about two more dogs that needed to be walked, one of which I had left the key with Other Sage because I had a psychic feeling, but the other one I didn't, so I also had to make sure that my mother got the key out of my key bag in the car and put it in an envelope and left it on the table in the backyard, and also I had to write out in great detail how to take care of these dogs, and it was after 2.30a before I went to bed. The next day, Sage was leaving the house at 6p to go to a class that she teaches, but I had fortunately decided that I wasn't up for it, and that was before I knew I would be typing one meelyun texts and emails until 2.30a, so that was a narrow escape.
Today I managed to force myself to sleep until 10.15a, then wandered around Bloor St., shopping, buying more stamps from a collectors' store (dangerous precedent being set), and some awesome stuff from a Stuff From Foreign Lands store, and then went off to visit
artistatlarge. We hung out with her birds, who were awesome, then went to an indoor marketplace and I got some maple mustard and maple candy because it's the law, then met Sage and Daegan and walked over to her show. Which was so awesome! I mean really, I have seem my share of one person shows, I'd say more than enough, but this was just incredible. Definitely worth a $500 flight. Not a joke. I was awash with tears, when the show was over the audience all turned to each other and exchanged sob stories, meaning stories about how much we sobbed, and then we came home and I decided to type this here instead of cutting it down for Facebook. MAybe I'll do this more than once, we'll see.
