Summary: Set after Kevin and Scotty go to pick up Olivia after she has run away.

Prompt - We Are Family
Word Court - 608
“We are a family” Scotty said to Olivia, he never wanted to go through that feeling of not knowing where his child is, whether it was Olivia or Daniel. This was the second time, they had lost Daniel, found him and nearly weren’t able to have him. Granted what happened in the situations were very different but when he had noticed that Olivia wasn’t at home he nearly lost his mind, all the horror stories about kids getting kidnapped and all the danger in this world came following through his mind. He was so relieved when he got the call telling him where Olivia was, such a weight of fear was able to disappear; now all they had to do was convince Olivia that they were a family.
The next day, lucky for them it was a weekend night, they had discussed once Olivia was safely in her bed, that it would be a family day, no work, just focus on their kids and each other. Scotty rang his sous chef and told them that they would be in charge for the day, he knew that they could handle the chaos of the kitchen, no food orders were coming in; so all they had to do was be in charge of the kitchen and it would give Scotty an idea of their capability so maybe he could have more time for Kevin and his family.
Kevin was much easier to sought out, the benefits of not working on weekends, unless it was an emergency, he knew that he had some work he could do today but nothing was as important to him as his family, nothing; including his work. It had taken Kevin some time to get his priorities right over the last five or so years but he knew that he wasn’t going to lose his family. He had come too close in the last two years; with the car crash accident, the cheating and finding Daniel, which he never wanted to be put in that situation again.
They had decided to stay in the apartment for their family day, it was one of the places that Olivia felt most comfortable and it would make all their ideas about the day easier, especially when they didn’t have to carry all of Daniel stuffs. They gave strict orders to everyone not to disturb them but to be sure they switched off their phones and the house line.
By the end of the day, they had played so many games, monopoly, scrabble (which helped with Olivia’s spelling) and then some fun games that Daniel could enjoy, jumbo sized snake and ladders, where he laughed at all the funny movements from his dads and his sister, then twister which was even more funny to him, he kept attempting to spin the dial for twister.
Olivia had never smiled so much, laughed so often and felt more at home than ever before. She watched as Kevin and Scotty tried to make her laugh, be a family with her and also be her parents. Contentment was all she felt when she went to bed that night and when she thought no one was listening to her she said “I have Dads” and she smiled at that thought, she thought of Daniel as well, so small and smiling all the time today “I have a family” she thought just as she drifted off to sleep.

Kevin and Scotty were listening from just outside Olivia’s door and they smiled to each other when they heard her words; so sweet. They took hold of each other’s hands and then went to the bedroom.
