what do you think...

i was walking around and ran into my old TA from sculpture, Ilan. he was always chipper and insightful in class. and he was working at the new coffee shop on campus. and he was playful in getting my attenion and we talked briefly. then just out of earshot of his co workers he mumbled about this job.
"it feels just ugh to be almost 40 and still shleping a uniform."
i quickly said "i know what it is like."
he almost scornfully retorted "you don't know what it is like to turn 40."

and he was right. i don't even know what it is like to turn 30. how on earth could i know what 40 is like?

at 26 i guess i am still young, relatively. sometimes i forget how young i still am. and how unexperienced and new to the world i am. just getting out of the gestation period of formal schooling. but here in college i feel over ripe in my classes.

it is starting to get difficult to remember things i did when i was younger and the order they were in. wonder what my memory will be like in 20 years? when i am almost 50?

the average lifespan of someone born in my generation is around 80-85 years old. i will unfortunately make it that far. i say unfortunately because i am not really interested in living that long. saggy skin, people scared even more so to touch me, smelling funny, grey hair, no hair. no teeth.
let's just say i dislike getting old more than children.
so i am hoping for a freak accident that kills me and my husband at the exact same time. that would be perfect.
