I did a lot last weekend.
Friday I met mom at work and we went to a see a movie, Good Night and Good Luck. I knew I would like it, but I think I ended up liking it more than I expected. I was riveted through the whole thing. I don't think the guy sitting behind me was too riveted-- at one point he started snoring and the whole theater was giggling when he snored so loud he woke himself. I was quite amused.
Saturday I took my mom for forest fire ramen and then to the play I gave her tickets to for her birthday. We saw Absurd Person Singular. It was friggin' hilarious. HI.LARIOUS. I tells ya. Side-splitting in the second act. Go see this play if you can-- it was cheap at student price, like only $24 (and yes, I bought a student ticket for myself for my mom's present). And Brent's mom (Emma, I think) from Corner Gas was in it.
After we went to Damien and Bernd's for rummoli. At first a couple of other guys were there but they left after about an hour, and then it was just the four of us. I was surprised at how much fun it still was with just us playing. It was great to unwind. And I was the big winner of the night-- over 5 bucks in profit (on only a $7.50 pay-in)!
Sunday was another play, or musical rather. My mom got tickets to the last performance of Urinetown. I liked it but found the story a little uneven and heavy-handed-- I get it, capitalism bad, socialism better, but only if we remember our resources won't last forever. I can't fairly compare the two plays but I liked Absurd better. Also, through the whole first half I had to go to the bathroom. I suggest never seeing a musical that sings about peeing, being free to pee, over and over and over, when you gotta go. After the play we went to Moxie's to avoid the superbowl and had delicious steaks.
Then I went home, studied and watched Grey's Anatomy.
I couldn't end it with Moxie's, I knew you'd be begging to know exactly how my Sunday ended.
