So, I've got this dictionary project, and when my boss asks if I'd like to proofread a document for $350 and delay delivery on the dictionary by a few days, I say, "Sure!" She says that it is a rush job, but then waits three days to send me the document, which moves the timeline right across Thanksgiving. Then I learn how to use sticky notes in PDF, but she asks if I can find someone with InDesign. Well, no, but I do have Acrobat XI, so I ask if that would be OK to use. She never responds. The next four letters I send say that I'm using Acrobat. After about thirty hours of work, I get the job done and I'm ready to submit it. This morning at 5 am, she sends me a note saying that they had warned me not to use Acrobat. (No, they didn't) and that you can't open Acrobat files in InDesign. In addition, there has been a huge deal over financing the contract, until I just want to wash my hands of it and go away.
Are Acrobat and InDesign incompatible? I'd sure like to know.
