My mom, grandmother, aunts (basically any female relative older than I am) always ask me if I have a boyfriend. My answer is always "no" and then I feel embarrassed and pathetic. Some of my relatives will attempt to make me feel better by saying stuff like, "Oh that's fine, you don't need a boyfriend right now. You should just concentrate on school."

Lately my mom has been getting worse. Anytime we're out somewhere together, and a guy who is my age walks by, she'll always have to make a comment about how he's cute or how I should go over and talk to him. I'm not so desperate that I need to approach random guys just walking by.

I think moms just worry that their daughters are going to end up alone, and they try to prevent that from happening. Which I think they shouldn't worry about because there are worse things in the world that can and do happen. If you don't feel good about this guy, you shouldn't force yourself to do something with him. I'm sure there will be plenty of other guys that will come into your life, and you can do whatever you want with them.
