Yesterday we were working on "band stuff" which at this point means Pat makes sweet beats on the computer and sweet riffs on the guitar and we sit there and support him with words of encouragement. But this time I decided to make a real contribution so I started to write lyrics, and this is what happened.
ahem.
an able- bodied, anxious ape gaped at eight apple trees
before a billion bug-eyed babies baked a billion bug-eyed bees
causing carnivorous carnival folk to curse countless cuckoo clocks
during which a doe-eyed donkey died by diving off the dock.
echoes east of 88th Street expressed excitement every night
fueling five fiery frenchmen in a full-out french fist fight.
growing in grand groups of grandeur were gay gaelic speaking geese
half a mile down haggard hobos hawked hacked handguns in the street.
irritated ill-fated indians inscribed impossible decrees
joined by jolly juggernauts enjoying joyous jubilees.
kangaroos kept getting ketchup on their unkempt kanga-toes
leaving less for lollygagglers gaggling in throes.
meanwhile malnourished manatees munched moldy maple leaves
neglecting nineteen nosy nuns swinging nunchucks at their knees.
octagonal octopi opted to organize a feast
prompting pompous porcupines to pine for purple pickled beets.
questions arose, for they had qualms about embarking on this quest
"relax", replied the rabbit, "i'll rearrange the rest."
so he sailed into the sea, singing softly as he sailed
tying a tassel to his tiny head, a bow tie to his tiny tail.
under his rabid rabbit breath he uttered utterly his last,
"violent seas are too vile! violent seas are too vast!"
whimpering while waves washed over, he whispered his final wish
"xcuse my exigency, but it exists and i do need to be a fish"
"your wish is yours!" the yellow sun yelled out, yelling very loud
zapping the overzealous bunny into an overzealous trout.
