The most surprising thing about tonight's game? Kobe can hadoken.
Look at the scoreboard:
1234
Celtics14407197
Lakers35587391
The Celtics were down by as much as 24 points in the first quarter. It was the largest first quarter deficit in NBA Finals history. I was not a happy camper. ABC commentator Milhouse's Dad Jeff Van Gundy called the game for the Lakers when they were up by seventeen in the first. ESPN's half-time analysts stuck a fork in the Celtics.
But by the end of the night Boston had turned the first NBA record of the night into the second: the biggest comeback since the inception of the shot clock in 1954. I was a very happy camper. Still am! And so is Eddie House:
The Celtics now have three chances to win one more game. Two of them are at home. I expect L.A. to win the next match up. I'll take a win, yeah. But I don't expect the best offensive team in the league and the sport's MVP to not win the game following such a thorough dismantling.
Now here's the thing I like best. Boston was up by 24 in the third quarter of Game Two and ended up holding on for the win by six. L.A. made an incredible comeback. It would have been the biggest comeback had they been able to finish it off. They couldn't. When push came to shove in Game Four -- Boston could and did.
