Roswell was a stray and when I see her now, lounging around in a sunbeam, plump and content, or trotting along behind me like a puppy, I often think how different her life would have been if she hadn't had the chance to come inside.

Bless her, I'm so glad she's receiving the care she needs. One of my cats looks just like her (except considerably more healthy).

I'm an RSPCA kitten fosterer who is currently looking after an adorable small pregnant cat I've named Daisy. Around this time last week Daisy was thrown out of a car window on the M1 motorway (think freeway, USAians) from the fast lane into the central reservation in a cat carrier. The police were called and they had to close the motorway to rescue her.

Thankfully she isn't too badly hurt - her back leg is very sore and bruised and her face and nose are a little mashed from the hard landing in the carrier, but she didn't abort the kittens and her own health could have been much, much worse.

The most amazing thing is that, despite her terrifying experience, she is the friendliest, most affectionate, chilled little cat you could hope to meet. She has decided that my paper recycling box is her new home and is currently nestled in amongst the shredded junk mail, which is the best use I've found for it yet :

Ugh god, my stomach just lurched reading your post there. What an awful story, but a heartwarming ending. Thank you for all that you do as a fosterer, I can't wait until I have a bigger home to open up to furry friends that need it.

That's my plan too - my other half says we can't have more permanent cats than we have bedrooms, so I'm working towards buying a mansion ;o)

Roswell is the most beautiful spokesperson cats could have. I hope the other kitty finds a great home. All of our cats have been rescued, from shelters, parking lots, and building sites through the years. They have always been wonderful. Keeping good thoughts for them all. I'm currently helping a friend try to find a home for a 9 year old German Shepherd. The dog (and her human) are losing their home. The human is developmentally disabled, and while he's going to have a new place to live, he will not be able to keep the dog. My friend Tony (landing craft pilot at Normandy--85 years old and as full of piss and vinegar as anyone), is the one who asked me if I might know someone that could take the shepherd. I'm in Northern California, if anyone out there knows of a place for her.

Both of my cats are feral rescue and stray rescue--they've made such an enormous difference in my quality of life and I in theirs. I can't imagine living without them.

Chloe here was found by a dumpster with her littermates. She was rescued by the MEOW Foundation in Calgary. I couldn't even pick her up for the first few months, but now she's a sweetie who loves her snuggles.

I have four former strays who used to get into my garbage. My neighbor was feeding them but had no plans to get them shots or fixed so I said I would do it and find them all homes (and by homes I mean they ended up staying with me because the shelters were full and no one was interested). This was in 2002.
I know it can be expensive just for well care. I sent something for Vanessa.
