The staff salaries budget approved for FY 2006 was $201, 642. The proposed salaries budget for FY 2007 is $204, 379 (an increase of only $2,737). The finance committee recommended a budget of $168, 620 on 4/27. On 5/1, they recommended a budget of $98, 230. Our newest part-timer (an aide) and I will be the first lay-offs. Next will be the full-time library aide and two part-time library aide. The town will be left with the director, the adult services librarian, (both professionals) and the circulation manager (non-professional).
I was already looking for a new job because the environment here is hostile. Now I need to find one really fast or I'll be fundraising for myself. Please send those green pieces of paper...
I don't do well with this kind of stress (who does?). Maybe I should just stay in Hawaii and live on the beach, catching my own fish (I've never been fishing) and learning to surf (I've never surfed).
