So I'm sitting in the postgraduate research office at Sydney Uni in the basement of Fisher Library and I have 30 minutes until I have to head to ballet so I thought I would update this thing.

I had my annual review today, which is basically to make sure you aren't just taking the university's money and doing nothing on your Ph.D. It went really well. I am definitely on track to complete in three years. I have some substantive revisions to do on my sovereignty chapter and a paper presentation to finish up but besides that some holiday time is glimmering in the distance.

I'm getting REALLY excited to go home for Christmas. Less than 3 weeks away! It was more than 40 degrees Celsius and humid yesterday in Sydney; a little too hot for this Canadian. It actually made me pine for Thunder Bay winter or an air conditioner, neither of which are things I normally like. It's cooled off today but its supposed to get hot again this weekend. Although this weekend I won't be stuck inside grading first year philosophy exams.

In other news, it looks like Jason won't be joining me in Australia in 2010. He is on track for a sweet promotion at work. When he first told me I was very very very sad, until later that same week, I meant a prominent law professor who teaches a University of Victoria who informed that I should come there for an exchange. So I am applying to go on exchange to University of Victoria from September 2010 - December 2010. It feels very ironic for a Canadian to be applying to go on exchange to Canada, but such is my life. If I get it, I will go home for August and see a bunch more of my friends do the marrying thing (August always seems to be the month for that), and then move out to Victoria. Fingers crossed.

I hope all is well where you are and that in the next few months, I find myself closer to where that is.
