scheduling

Arright, tomorrow morning's my interview for a diener (autopsy assistant) position on the main campus of the hospital at which I've been working for the past year. I've been brushing up on gross pathology for the last couple nights and I think I'm all set. What does one wear to the morgue/path lab on a job interview? I hope they'll give me an apron to cover my trousers.

I finished my third and final EMT course today, leaving just the official practical in two days and written either on Monday or the Monday after that, depending on when I'm leaving on my backpacking trip.

As for the hiking, my mother and I are going to do a few loops in central Oregon, toddling around the slopes of Broken Top and the lava pools and mesas tucked below it. If the weather continues to cooperate, we'll do a summit attempt on South Sister, one of Oregon's six(?) glaciated peaks. We almost summited Old Snowy Mountain last summer, but got whited-out on its steep, windswept shoulder.

I'm mostly trying to sort out my schedule these days. Finishing my job and my courses frees up a lot of time, but now I need to fill it up again. I've got these job interviews [singular, actually, as the one tomorrow afternoon got postponed due to a death in the interviewer's family] right now, but no way to know what my schedule will be like if I get a couple of the jobs. I'm aiming to hold two part-time positions, but they have to match up. Coupled with scheduling my EMT exams, figuring out the rugby schedule, taking on extra volunteering shifts, and being out of town for a week, everything is rather up in the air at the moment. I even got another medical school interview invitation today, but I'm not going to try scheduling it until I get back from central Oregon. It's in Philadelphia, and I have to decide if I want to wedge it into the middle of my post-Vermont week in Boston or set up another trip out East and back. If I do it later, there's at least a small chance that another Philly school will invite me in the meantime and I can get both in at once. If not, though, I waste time and money. And then trains/flights, accommodations, et cetera: I'll put off thinking about it until at least tomorrow.
