My sister and I slept a lot this past week. We also walked along the tracks by the graveyard in varying levels of light (twilight is spookier than daytime is spookier than pitch black), toured a few historical and college-kid places in Boston, meandered through the MFA and its Ansel Adams exhibit, and enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner with a few of my friends. Somehow, we also got some work done. Especially Bean. She's applying to spend next fall learning about the West by driving around with a classful of other students. They'll stop at 30-40 places in just about every state from Montana/Wyoming/Colorado/New Mexico on west, even dipping down into Mexico for a little while. Neato.
I spent yesterday and most of today holed up at Ruki's, reading paper after paper about the initiation of replication in Escherichia coli while sucking down juice and coffee. I'm trying to figure out how I can muck with the dnaA, diaA, dam, and seqA genes in ways that 1) haven't been mucked with already, 2) produce some sort of interesting phenotypic effect, and 3) I understand well enough to both accomplish and write about.
The first draft of the introduction of my tremendously horrible essay of seemingly interminable size (t.h.e.s.i.s., or thesis) is due tomorrow.
HA HA HA.
