Ha. I killed that third midterm. Complex carbohydrates? Lipids? Proteins and nucleic acids? No problem. Ha. This is why I will major in biology. The teacher said he decided at the last minute to leave off the pure chemistry syntheses and mechanisms since we had a cumulative final coming up so soon, and that he'd concentrated on the biochem stuff he'd taught us the day before. The only stuff I'm really great at. So I either aced it or got a low A. Rock solid.
The final went a bit better than expected as well, even though I'd just downed 12oz black coffee and 20oz water and had to pee quite badly. I finished twenty minutes early (it was a two-hour exam) so I could rush to the bathroom. The teacher was nice about it after all, which I'm taking as an apology for making me wait till the day before to schedule my make-up final. As you can tell from prior conversations with me (or possibly entries, I don't remember what I wrote about), not knowing when/if I could take it was making me extremely nervous and rather angry. Mom called him an asshole. Which she almost never does.
I talked with Jeremy and Kelly and Jonah after the midterm, then perched on a barstool at the Portland Coffee House for three hours to learn everything for the final. The barista and I discussed plants that remove pollution from the soil so you don't have to ruin the environment more than you already have in trying to extract that junk. He gave me a free cup of coffee when I went to return my soy steamer mug.
This guy reminded me of GBB. He looked a lot like Ben, curls, beard, and lankiness, only more handsome, and spoke in the same manner. And when he ducked out for a smoke break, I noticed that he rolled his own.
Two of the questions my teacher wrote for the third midterm and questions number 63 and 64 on the national ACS final were almost identical. I pointed this out to him and he beamed, delighted to find that the third test he's ever written was actually pretty good, then asked if I got them right. Yes. I did. BOTH TIMES.
