*sigh* more crap from the bike crash last summer.
So apparently they did a bunch of tests (MRIs and I think a CAT scan or two) -- for my wrists, and for my head and jaw. I had a few different docs who worked out of the same place. A few sent me bills, and I got them my health insurance info, and they were in the PPO and those were all cleared up.
But the guy who they had do all the expensive shit (about $1300 of it) instead of sending me the bill sent me to collections. Once I found out, I called and gave them my insurance info and bitched at them for not getting my contact info from the hospital as everyone else had (yes, I got credit card rejects and such as a result). However, he is non-PPO. So my insurance paid the $800ish that they cover for those things, but the doc said screw you and is still charging me for the rest of the amount, so about $470 is left.
I could:
- Just pay it: clear it all up and just be done with it. It would mean going back to having more credit card debt and I still might have another $5000 from airlifting to deal with.
- Give the doc my Kaiser insurance info: that insurance should be expired, and with the $5000 left over on the airlifting bill already sent to them, I'm not sure how much I should push my luck with them thinking I'm still covered. I haven't heard back from the airlifting people since giving them my Kaiser info, so don't even know yet if it will work.
- Call the hospital and figure out how they had the only expensive stuff done by the only non-PPO guy. I'm guessing I would have asked, but I have no idea if I did... I may not remember it, but I did come up with having the nurse use my last cingular bill online to get phone numbers. At least I'll learn how they have PPO and non-PPO people working side by side... I just don't know if it's worth it, and it might just come to more bitching at people for no good.
