Weekend Recap

Nov 20, 2006 14:10

I've been on the verge of tears all morning for no real reason. PMS is a few weeks away….

I spent my weekend playing GW, didn't leave the house. And no, it wasn't because of the game. My logic right now, is that if I don’t go anywhere I can't spend money, or waste gas. There's nothing to tempt me. Its about money management right now.

On Friday I went to the Ducks/Blackhawks game in the old Capital One suite with Tracy, her staff and oddly my old boss Mark. He said "Hey stranger!" and waved. That was all the interaction I got from him all night. Whatever. I had a great time with Tracy. Abel and his wife Natalie were there, as were Jon, Drew, Truong and Erica. The hockey game was actually the most exciting Ducks game I've ever seen. Go figure. There were some good fights, the Blackhawks tied it up in the 3rd, and it went into overtime, then into a shoot out. The shootout was cool, first time I got to see one in person.

While I was at the game on Friday night, E went to see his best friend in the school play. He went to both showings, which was pretty cool. Barbie stopped and got the boys something to eat, and brought him home. He got home around 11:30, I was giving him shit about staying out late. It was nice for both of us to be able to go out with friends. He did well, called throughout the night to let me know how things were going. I am very proud of him and how responsible he was.

The weirdness all surrounds GW and the folks I game with.

The loser Brian thinks he's got some sort of real shot with me…WTF? I keep trying to be nice, but its wearing on me. I don't like him, and he's too needy. I'm not saying that I'm not needy, but its different. I know it sounds really hypocritical, but it's true. Even when I'm at my lowest I still have my shit together. I don't make excuses, I take ownership, and run with it. Whatever, I waste too much energy on him.

Next odd thing involves Damien. We click…not in the sense of romantically click, but we can talk about everything. He's a smart kid, and no I'm not trying to sound condescending, but he's only 21. He's got a bright future, he's lived a hard life, and he's managed to come out on top. I admire that kind of fire and fight in people. He posted pics in the pics thread on the SK forums and pointed me to them. He looks 16, not 21. I can just imagine him doing all his celebrity interviews, and everyone of them wondering if he's really as young as he looks. He asked for a pic of me. And I obliged him.…can you believe it? Don't know why. He lauded compliments, it was weird. But I said "Thank you" and left it at that (Yes, I still acutely remember the PP lesson about compliments). We talk almost every night online with Pooly. Sky and Andy joined us last night. It's just nice, feels good. He makes me laugh.

Next oddity comes by way of Scova, who after all the initial drama with him, has taken to helping me quite a bit, explaining things, and making sure I have a clue. If he had taken this approach from the beginning, things would never have soured in the first place.

Not really an oddity but a concern comes up next, as Eli has been MIA since Thursday night. He got offline in a hurry saying he was feeling dizzy and needed to lay down. After asking around, Damien was able to get his myspace info, and I dropped him a line. I know his GF checks it also. Without going into all the details, I'm extremely worried about him. I'm hoping there will be an email from him or his GF this evening when I get home. He is someone that I truly admire. His strength of character and perseverance really inspire me. There are very few people I can say that about. No less someone I've met playing a game.

Now with all that said, why do I still feel like I want to cry (even after the good news I posted earlier)?
