Basically, shit's been going down.
Really irritating shit.
Getting a state ID in which you were not born or had been staying in for 7+ years or whatever, like I was in SB, is absolutely ridiculously to accomplish. Now, proving your identity is easy enough... but then you have to have two articles of proof of residency. Because I have no bills in my name (1. it's too complicated, 2. we'd just change it back, 3. it'd probably take forever for both), over half of my options are blown out the window. But there's a nice little fix! I can just bring in the person whose name is on the bill(s) and they can vouch for me. Okay, fantastic -- I'm doing that with Greg's brother. But I need a second... and without bills in my name, my options are very limited. Basically, it comes down to "official mail". These can't be letters from my buddies and grandma, they have to be like, taxes, magazines, etc.
Yeah, magazines. I know, right?
I could also open up a bank account... but I'm pretty goddamn certain I need an ID to do that. I may try it now that we're hitting the wire, but most of the time is lost and I'm pretty distressed that I won't be getting my residency discount for college next year.
In any case... the guy at the DMV told me I could also go to the post office and officially change my address -- apparently, they'd give me a little yellow slip or sticker as proof.
Two and a half weeks later, nothing.
I go in, they bitch at me and make no sense whatsoever because they aren't familiar with anything outsides of their scripts (apparently), and I end up having to send myself a letter. It's supposed to forward here, with the little yellow sticker.
Haha, of course not! Another week or so later, my mom gets it, no sticker, no nothing.
This is so beyond irritating.
My lovely mother signed me up for some magazines between that, but we don't know when those will come. I'm hoping maybe my paycheck will pass for it, now that I'll be having a job (Rite-Aid, an epic saga of its own but it's not necessary to get into), but who the hell knows.
All I know is, I want to cash my last paycheck from Safeway and contact SRU once I have my ID and find out the requirements that they have about residency.
I'm totally screwed if residency is supposed to be for a year, and that I'm supposed to have any official records from a certain date that's earlier than now.
And it probably is.
Dammit.
