There are days when Changmin is just curious and wondering about what he does with his life, what it has come to, and what it could lead to in the future.
During the rare evenings in which he can sit at home, he listens to his favorite tracks on repeat wearing nothing but a simple shirt and sweatpants for comfort. The lyrics are usually what gets him the most, and the instrumental melodies which echo in the living room seem to emit a nice thrum to help drone out the incessant chatter within his very own mind. Changmin takes in the ticking of the clock located in the far corner of a wall, measuring out how much the alcohol he consumes ultimately affects him based on the migraine muffling the intensity of every passing second. The glass of wine he has being swirled in his hand hypnotizes him during the brief few seconds he isn't thinking; the familiar shade of red reminds him of many things that have ultimately no relation to what he should dwell on in the first place.
Something escapes him, which turns out to be a sigh from a breath he didn't know he held. It's been happening frequently, and he's sure he's not the only one to have noticed. On his rough days, the staff and crew give him more sympathetic, understanding smiles and soft nods. Changmin grimaces at the thought that he'd turned into a simpler cover to interpret, but settles with another sigh of acknowledging that there really are people in the world who care.
There's the sound of rattling keys by the front door. The lock comes undone, and Yunho enters with his face turned down to focus on taking his shoes off, sliding them aside by the rest of the array as he shuts the entrance with a free hand. Changmin contemplates on if the man had borrowed his shoes again without his knowledge, but reminds himself that Yunho probably wouldn't be able to differentiate what belongs to whom with his scatterbrained tendencies.
All of a sudden, Yunho's face turns up and offers a soft smile in greeting. Changmin reciprocates with something he'd like to believe is a smile, but most likely looks similar to something related to a lopsided grin.
The blur in his peripheral vision catches his attention; Yunho lies down across the couch parallel to the one he's currently occupying. The leader turns on his side to face him with something gleaming in his eye Changmin can't really pinpoint its purpose of yet.
"It seems," Yunho begins, then shifts for a more comfortable spot against the cushion by his head, "that you've a lot on your mind, Changmin-ah."
Changmin almost snorts as he places the glass in his hand down on the table separating them two. "Your observation sure is sharp, hyung."
Yunho takes it as an invitation to stay and grins. While he's out with other friends, chatting to catch up, reminisce, and follow through, Changmin would stay home with his collection of music, the stereo system, games, and movies. If it was a distraction that Changmin wanted, Yunho was sure the younger would be willing to go out with him and meet with their friends. It was because he prefers to be alone, at times, that Yunho wonders what it is that this man thinks about.
"Everything," Changmin mumbles.
"What?"
"I think about everything, hyung." Changmin gently supplies again, and Yunho almost flusters at the wise expression graced upon Shim's face. "Quit looking surprised. You do the exact same thing too; I know."
Jung lies flat on his back and stares at the ceiling with a small laugh escaping his lips.
"The only difference," Changmin smirks, nodding towards his leader, "is that I think on the couch. You attempt to find the meaning of life in the shower."
Yunho's doesn't miss a beat and chucks an extra cushion at Changmin's head in protest.
