I know you're feeling really terrible right now, but please don't write everyone off. I know my comments have very little meaning because I really can't relate to something like racial suppression and discrimination. I've never been in the minority and can't even begin to comprehend how it feels. But, I can say that everything happens for a reason, and not being able to audition for the musical will only allow for other doors to be opened and other oppurtunities to be explored. Who knows what's around the corner? I know that sounds like bullshit and that I can never fully understand how you feel. But you are a very talented person and that is clear to everyone. You're gonna leave Lake Shore in less than a year and go to college and have better oppurtunities and experiences and meet extraordinary people. I've been telling myself that for the past three years and I really believe in it. I know we don't really know each other (Katherine, the crazy girl who played Veta Louise, and screamed for you to get that camera the hell out of the prop room while I was getting dressed, if you haven't already guessed. I just started a journal here.), but I happened upon your entry and decided to reply. And, to answer your question, the world wouldn't be any better without race. I think it might be worse. I know racial problems have caused all sorts of awful things, but diversity has allowed for so many wonderful things too. If everyone were the same, life would be so dull and boring. Racial diversity allows for people of all cultures to experience different customs and traditions, and I don't think life would be very worth while without that.
