Another reason I love Taiwan -- the abundance of good TV shows! Right now they're re-broadcasting Fated to Love You (still in the early episodes, which means it's A+++ drama fare) *and* Office Girls, and I'm also sorta watching the currently airing Gung Hay Fat Choy, as well as anticipating Roy Chiu's new drama Miss Rose.
To be honest, I haven't been watching Gung Hay Fat Choy all that closely, since it's a M-F drama and I'm usually out during the night. But there are re-broadcasts of episodes all the time, so I've probably managed to catch about half of the show. The plot itself (talking about different ways people try to get rich) is kind of meh, but I love seeing the actors! James Wen and Patrick Lee, both of whom weren't all that interesting in Office Girls, are super cute in this drama. Plus I love seeing Patrick chase after Alice Ke, which is sooo weird after watching Office Girls (where he was her super-strange boss) but also hilarious because they interact so well.

Of course, my main priority is Miss Rose, SETTV's newest drama, which is supposed to start airing on July 22nd. After Office Girls finished airing, there's been a serious lack of good twdramas, and I don't think any of the shows after it have reached 3 in the ratings, whereas OG broke 7.33 with its last episode. By inviting back Roy, SETTV is clearly trying to capitalize on his OG popularity, which I am not complaining about at all because Miss Rose looks like it's going to be effing fantastic.
Here's the drama's first trailer, which had me squeeing when I saw it on TV the other day:

Roy's leading lady this time is Megan Lai, who is usually known for playing the tall and cool type, but this time she's acting Luo Siyi, a 31-year-old office lady who's been single for the past five years. She goes to get her fortune told, and the fortune teller lady (played by Qin Ziqi's Auntie Feng in OG!) says she'll be single for the rest of her life. So Siyi strikes a deal with her: she will get herself married off within one year, or she'll have to pay fortune teller lady NT$1,000,000!
The drama's title literally translates to "Miss Screw Wants to Get Married," the "screw" (like screwdriver sort of screw) being a play off Megan's character's name -- "screw" in Chinese is "luosi," and the character's name is "Luo Siyi," which sounds like "luosi" if said quickly. I'm glad the English title is "Miss Rose," though, because "Miss Screw" would have sounded reaallly weird. Plus "rose" sounds a bit like "luosi," especially if you take into account the l/r confusion that Asians sometimes have bahaha.
Roy's character is Gao Chengkuan, a successful businessman who becomes Luo Siyi's boss. He's the sort of guy who's really hard to get along with (think Yan Ge from My Daughter), and judging from previews, Roy is doing a magnificent job. His first interaction with Luo Siyi is actually like how Yan Ge first met Tianmei (she poured coffee on him twice), but with a twist: Siyi trips, dumps cake all over Roy, and then elbows him in the crotch when she's trying to get up. HAHAHAHAHA. Start watching around the 3:40 mark:

Anyway, the most obvious evidence that SETTV is hoping for another OG success is the list of OG actors who are reappearing in Miss Rose, much like a ton of actors in My Daughter reappeared in Waking Love Up. We have:
* Roy Chiu (Qin Ziqi)
* Tia Li (Zheng Kai'er) -- ugh, but it seems like her acting's improved somewhat
* Paul Hsu (Paul)
* Yang Liying (Shen Mama)
* Zhao Zhengping (Manager Hu)
* Lang Zuyun (Manager Feng)
* Stephanie Chang (Mandy)
Twdramas have repeat actors all the time, but usually not in a such a short period of time. I think the most hilarious thing about the cast list, however, is that Tia Li will be acting Luo Siyi's best friend (think Le Le from OG), probably in an attempt to redeem herself in the eyes of the viewers. Even funnier is that Gao Chengkuan's girlfriend/fiance, Vivian, will be acted by Puff Kuo, i.e. Tia Li's fellow girl group member. If this plays out how twdramas usually do, then Vivian will be the aggravating and bitchy pretty girl whom all the viewers hate. Talk about destroying Dream Girls' reputation one by one ROFL. But at least Puff Kuo seems capable of facial expressions (unlike Tia), judging from a scene I've seen of her in another drama.
I don't have an eloquent way to end this post, so have a video of Roy telling you to watch his new drama!
