All three of Alex Pettyer's movies in 2011 fall into this category, but goshhh he is just too good-looking to pass up seeing in a film. *o*
Up first is I Am Number Four, set to release in a little less than a month. It looks like it's just going to be an action movie with a generic plot (hot guy with magic powers is being hunted down, and in the meantime falls in love with a human girl), but whatever, hot guy is hot. Plus Alex and Dianna Agron, who are dating in real life now, are quite cute together. Trailer behind the cut.
Then there's Beastly, which was supposed to come out in July of last year, but was bumped to March 2011 because someone somewhere decided it wasn't smart to release Zac Efron's new movie and Vanessa Hudgens' new movie on the same day. I'm not sure why this resulted in its being pushed back eight months, and it doesn't even matter now because apparently Zac and Vanessa split up! I'm still bitter about this because if Beastly had been released in July, then there would be a DVD out already! Grr.
Anyway, this is a modern retelling of the Beauty and the Beast story. I finally read the book it's based off of (which reminds me, I should go read the book that I Am Number Four is based off), and it's an okay story, nothing special. BUT Alex is still very, very hot. Plus plus plus plus it has Neil Patrick Harris, who is a plus in any sort of entertainment. C: Trailer for this behind another cut.
What I'm mostly excited about, however, is not really these movies but the fact that Alex will finally, finally get some screentime in American theaters. You wouldn't believe how excited I was to see an ad for I Am Number Four on the side of a bus last week. We never got that for Stormbreaker (which is probably good because that movie was a total flop, but oh well). Here's to hoping these movies will usher in the Alex Pettyfer era in the U.S. :D
And seeing as there's not much info on the
third film, I'm withholding judgment for now.
