Kagerou Translation

Sep 10, 2010 23:14

Hi y'all. Recently I've been obsessing over Kagerou from Arashi's Boku no Miteiru no Fuukei album. It's a great song that is pretty inspirational. Therefore, I decided to translate it (to the best of my ability). I am fairly new to translating so if anyone finds any mistakes or better ways of phrasing things, please feel free to correct me. As always, comments are much appreciated. Thank you and enjoy!!!

Yaketsuku you na Sora ni sasowarete

Drawn towards a burning sky,

Nobashita te wa Nani wo motometeru

What does my outstretched hand seek?

Hateshinaku Tooku Nagaku Tsuduku Michi no saki ni

The road ahead is endless, far, long, unbroken

Aoku hikaru Hajimari no basho ga aru

But there is a starting place that shines blue

Nari yamanai akai sairen Dare ni mo mada kikoenai

A red siren rings endlessly, still inaudible to anyone else

Tomaru koto wo shiranai

Without knowing when it will stop

Michibikareta chiheisen ni Aoi kagerou Yureteiru

I’m led towards the horizon by the quivering blue heat waves

Itsumade mo Kono kimochi Nakusanai

No matter what, I will not lose this feeling

Hohoemu you na Tsuki ni terasarete

Illuminated by the smiling moon

Hane wo yasumeta Tori wa yume no naka

The bird in my dreams rests its feathers

Hitoshirezu Fukaku Fukaku Moguru Yami no naka de

With secrets hidden deep, deep in the dark

Umarekawaru hajimari no toki ga kuru

The time to start a new life has come

Tadori tsuita kotae wa mada Subete jyanai kono sekai

Struggling to find answers is not all there is to this world

Hikari to kage wo daite

Embrace light and shadow

Afure dashita namida Boku no mayoisae mo Tokashite yo

My overflowing tears and doubts have melted away

Taiyou ga Kono senaka Oshiteiru

The sun pushes this back of mine forward

Kono tabi no hate ni Nani wo miru no darou?

At the end of this journey I wonder what I’ll see

Nari yamanai akai sairen Dare ni mo mada kikoenai

A red siren rings endlessly, still inaudible to anyone else

Tomaru koto wo shiranai

Without knowing when it will stop

Michibikareta chiheisen ni Aoi kagerou Yureteiru

I’m led towards the horizon by the quivering blue heat waves

Itsumade mo Kono kimochi Nakusanai

No matter what, I will not lose this feeling

T/N: In Japan, the color for “go” is blue whereas in the U.S. it’s green. Therefore, I’m not sure, but I think the 3rd/4th lines mean that though the road ahead might be tedious, the starting point is signaling you to go forward and begin your journey. In the same way the red siren referred to in line 5 probably indicates a hindrance to the journey. Just a thought. Feel free to comment with your own interpretation.
