[Offline] Much, much later?angle_on_itSeptember 6 2011, 15:33:35 UTC
[This is becoming all too familiar. Zuko, Aang, now Toph? It's anyone's guess who might go next, a disturbing thought to the saddened warrior.]
[Sokka waits, knowing Katara will be busy answering questions over the network, but intent on talking to her. At least she isn't gone. Yet. When he finally decides they won't be interrupted too much, he heads over to the other row house and lets himself in.]
[He tries the kitchen first, calling out to the too-quiet house.] Katara? Are you here? [Maybe he should have called first.]

[Katara's voice actually rings out from upstairs, and it's almost cheerful.]
Hi, Sokka! Come on up.
[If he does, he'll find her dressed in old clothes, hair pinned up and tied back as she scrubs the floor in Toph's old room. The furniture is pushed to the walls; there's a pile and sack full of trash, too, sitting near the door.]
[She's actually sweating a little, reaching up to slide the back of her hands against her forehead. Her fingers are pruney from the water she's used to scrub the floor, apparently having avoided waterbending at all and doing it the old fashioned way.]
[She shoots him a grateful look when he begins to scrub the floors.]
First it was Toph, then Zuko, then me, then Iroh, then you, then Iroh left, then you left, then.. [It starts to get fuzzy, and she has to squint to think.] Then.. Aang, and then Azula, and then Azula left, and then you, and then Iroh came back, and then Iroh left, I think, and then Suki and Jet, and Iroh again..
[He stops his scrubbing halfway through her recitation, frown deep set on his face. Sokka looks like he's going to say something, but goes back to scrubbing before does.] Should've known it wouldn't work like that. The Animus doesn't leave us any of choice when or how we go, I guess. [Scrub, scrub, scrub. At least cleaning gives him something else to concentrate on aside from his obvious delusions.]
[Iroh stands in the doorway, holding up a box of sweets he had managed to find...somewhere. Somehow. It didn't matter. They could all use a little pick me up.
[Sokka looks up at Iroh, and while his hands are dirty, he graciously takes one of the sweets. He carefully transfers it from one hand to the other, then attempts to scrub his hand clean on his pants.] Thanks.
[A glance at Katara.] Looks like something you might enjoy. Let me know what you think? [He isn't quite ready to try his.]

It was filthy in here.

[As he makes his first few passes, he tentatively asks his sister the one question on his mind.] Do you think maybe we're next to go home?

[Her own hand stills for a moment.]
I still miss Zuko. And Aang. And Toph so much that it kind of hurts. But if I keep telling myself.. life at home is so much better than life here.

I think this is the cleanest this room has ever been. You've been working very hard.
