Take your time. I was thinking the river, unless you have somewhere you would like to go.

[And twenty minutes later, Katara will be standing there, eyes still slightly puffy.]

[Ion is sitting by the river, his staff across his knees, looking out at the water. When Katara arrives, however, he stands, as is polite, and offers her a gentle smile.]
Thank you for joining me.

It's okay, Ion. You really don't have to treat me with kid gloves.
[She smiles a little politely though, waiting for him to stand.]

[He steps over to join her, looking at her with a slight tilt of his head.]
I don't think I am.

I'm happy she's gone, honestly.
[She leans down, picking up a flat stone and flinging it into the river.]
It's safer at home. It's just like with Aang: I don't have to worry about them anymore. Does that make sense? Home is so much better here.

[He stands next to her, watching the rock skip on the water.]
You don't seem happy.

I'm happy she's home. That doesn't mean I won't miss her.
[She sighs, flicking the water in irritation. It ripples hard.]
I want to be the last one here. I want everyone to go home first, honestly. I know I can deal with things here.

I don't think so. You have somewhere important to return to, things you want to do when you get back.
[He watches the water ripple.]

It's not even that.
[She jerks her wrist, and the water swirls uneasily.]
It's watching the people I care about get hurt over and over and over again, and no one seems to really think much of it. I can't stop it.
